Hospital Preference in Northwest Suburbs
I am new to OH but am looking for some help. I am anticipating rny RNY surg in late August or September but have not decided on where. Anyone have an opinion about Alexian Brothers Hospital in Elk Grove versus St Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates??? Any feedback regarding Bariatric surgery at either facility is appreciated.

Hi and Welcome!
First off, this is an awesome board to find out everything you ever wanted to know about WLS and then some! I havent been on here long myself, but I have learned sooooo much.
If you read my post on the roll call page, I was talking about my very positive experience at ABMC. I unfortunately had to have my gallbladder out about 5 weeks ago, and even though Dr. Wallace begged the insurance co, they would not let him do both surgeries at the same time. (Dont ask!) I can not say enough about the care I recieved on the 6th floor post op. All the staff is great. I am a hard cookie to please ( I am an ICU nurse).
I worked at another Large hospital in the area for 15 yrs and have never received the care there that I received at ABMC.
I also asked Dr, Wallace which hospital he preferrd and he said both are great, but the 6th fl at ABMC has been trained so well on how to care for post op WLS patients. They have all the right sized equipment, knowledgeable staff, and the track record of having taken care of so many WLS patients.
I have been also been to their ER twice and visited probably most of their diagnostic departments along with their registration desks. Again, nothing but high praise, professionalism, and care.
I cant speak to St Alexius becasue I have never been there. Im sure they have a good program too or our docs at the Kane center wouldnt practice there.
Im sure someone here has had their surgery there and can give you advice on them too.
Good luck with your surgery!

Welcome to the Illinois Board. Both hospitals are equal, I had mine at Alexian Bros. but other have had it at St. Alexius. What matters is you have one of the best Doctors possible.(and one of the cutest) Which one are you closer to?
Please join us in our daily roll call. This is where we are all able to see what each other is doing and be able to stay in touch with each other. We are a very close group and we really care about each other.
Hugs
