pre op

Hi This is my first post I am in my fifth month of medical supervise weight loss. I lost 25 pounds . i have medicare and medicaid. i live in illinois but i'm having my surgery in nashville tn. at vanderbuilt university hospital. The surgeon is requiring that i lose 40 pounds before surgery. has anyone had similar experiences and how did you lose the weight. I'm on a meal replacement deit now but it's getting hard to stick to .So any encouragement or advise would be welcome. Thankyou

Kim, I am there with you on the struggle to loose weight. Have you talked with your surgeon's office and touched base with them as to the struggles that you have been facing? How strict is he on loosing that 40#? See what he has to say. What is your meal replacement diet that you are on right now and how strict are you following it? I know it is a real struggle to follow a diet when you do not have any restriction with WLS but I am here as a cheerleader for you to follow the straight and narrow and give it your all in all.

Christine Hi thankyou for your support. The surgeon is adament that i lose the forty.They are trying to help through it . I trying real hard to stick to it . Right now i'm doing atkins shakes and like lean cusine meals. The hard part for me is dinner I have to cook for my family and its hard to keep from tasteing what i'm cooking . Also I need to exercise more they gave me a pedometer to keep track of my steps for the day . So I'm trying to increase thoose by  50 per day .
