Another BCBS question...a BTDT?
So I finished my 6 month diet plan, talked to my dr., did the psych eval..etc.
I didn't do super well with the diet. But was keeping steady. Down about 8 lbs. Well this last month I was gone 3 out of 4 weeks on the road. didn't eat well and gained 6lbs of it back. Now mind you I am pmsing, but come on I did horribly.
Will this gain screw up my chances of being approved?
I'm afraid it will and I will be sick if it does.

I was in fear of being denied for not losing very much on the 6 month diet. My MD even wrote some not very nice comments on my lack of progress,
I had been dieting with MD's over the past 5 years on and off. My weight went from 270 - 201 and I seem to stay around 240's most of the time.
When my MD was angry I did not lose weight through the holidays, I was just happy I did not gain 10-15 pounds.
I think insurance looked at the whole picture in my case and approved.
Insurance policies are so varied and even people reviewing the same request could differ in opinions.
Best wishes to you! and your journey towards WLS

That is the reason you are having this surgery. Many people even gain during their 6 month diet. Don't feel too bad. I really dont think it really affects your insurance approval, it is just a stalling tactic to see how many hoops you are willing to jump through to have surgery. I did not lose much during mine but then I lost 40 lbs on my 2 week preop diet. Go figure.

No worries!
The diet is not really to see if you will lose weight (as someone else pointed out), it is to see if you can attempt it "the regular way" and to show your willingness to comply with their "demands" (for lack of a better word). It shows that you will make time in your life for a Dr.'s appointment once a month, come He** or high water.
Please try not to worry, even though the waiting is the hardest part.
Good luck to you and we are all sending positive vibes your way!
