Good morning Christine,
I have a question for you! I am thinking about when I am in Downers Grove in August taking the train downtown for the day, since I am not familiar with this process are there any tricks to it? Like certian train numbers, or is there a web sight I can go to to get info? I figured with the gas prices and all and   I will be up that way I might as well make it a day!  I think I know where to catch it at in Downers Grove but from that point I am totally lost!  Thanks for any suggustions you might have!

Karen, there isn't any trick to taking the train. Here is the link for the schedule for that rail line http://www.metrarail.com/Sched/bn/bn.shtml That rail line goes into Union Station at Canal and Jackson. It is about a 6 block walk to State Street from there and then a little further to Millenium Park on Michigan Ave. There are train numbers on the schedule as far as the times they arrive but they do not correspond to the engine numbers on the train. These numbers are mainly for if Metra needs to make an announcement regarding delays etc to all the stations.  Note there are two stations for Downers Grove so choose accordingly. Contact the Downers Grove Police Department or Village Hall for info on parking regulations and the fees for parking. Watch as some towns will have permit only lots and then pay daily lots. Most stations charge somewhere around $1 some a little less and some slightly more. Most places require the exact amount and the pay boxes do not give change. Get there with enough time to make the payment because most police departments will not forgive a ticket for not paying due to not having enough time to pay before the train arrives.

Suggestions - wear comfortable shoes, take sun screen, enjoy. There are free trolleys downtown that go all over the place. You get this right outside the station on Jackson street.  Here is the link http://egov.cityofchicago.org/city/webportal/portalDeptCateg oryAction.do?BV_SessionID=@@@@1965569788.1216923563@@@@&BV_E ngineID=ccceadeejlmkmficefecelldffhdfif.0&deptCategoryOID=-5 36896557&contentType=COC_EDITORIAL&topChannelName=Dept&entit yName=Transportation&deptMainCategoryOID=-536896085

Good Afternoon!

Here it is another day in MT Prospect.  My daughter (22months) has slept in for the last two days til 10:30!  I can't believe it!  Hurray!  I'm sure that will change soon.  My husband takes my son to camp every morning by 8:30 and I did not hear them at all this morning.

I heard from the surgeons office today that I have a vitamin D deficiency.  Normal is above 30 and mine is 18. It came back in all my pre op labs.  So I guess I have to take one pill a week for 8 weeks and then they recheck it.  Although in 2 weeks I am going to have the surgery and Im not sure if that is one of those crushable things.  Ill have to ask the pharmacist.

Today is laundry day and floor day.  I dont mind the doing of the laundry, I actually enjoy that part it is the putting away of the laundry that is my downfall.  I'm going to try to be better at it. I should add that to my goals.

I picked up my protein shakes and "liver shrinking diet" yesterdey at the Kane center.  The dreaded liquid starts next friday.
I will do my best.

I hope everyone has a great day!

Eileen, I had to take vitamin D supplements too before my surgery.    I hear ya about the laundry too. Especially with my back, the folding and putting away is not fun.

Hey everyone!  I wanted to do a quick stop by and let everyone know that I doing ok.  I was back to work on monday following my gall bladder surgery on friday.  I am tired, but I get through it, and I am trying to get my finals done for my marketing class.  I stepped on the scale this morning and I am at 176lbs, and I am like two lbs from my bmi classifing me as overweight and not obese.....I hope this happens soon.  My daughter leaves for minnesota today, and my son leaves for california on saturday, so my dh and I will have some time to ourselves.  We are in the middle of packing to move to the bigger apartment that is one floor below ours, and we are making some time to go to a milwaukee brewers game on sunday.  I know that this weekend I am also going to go find me an ice cream maker (thanks to eggface).  I love to have a sweet treat in the evenings when I do homework, so this will work wonderful.  Besides, I still have samples of protein powder that I need to use up and if I can do that then this would be so cool.  Well, back to work and reconciling financials.

Wendi, you have been through so much, I hope all is clear sailing from here on out.  I really must say you are definitely not a quitter!!

I have to look for that ice cream recipe, I have a i.c. maker shoved in the back of our utility room, I think it still works .
