Monday Roll Call

Hi Eileen, You're making steps in the right direction in this journey. I too am in the pre- op stage. My surgeon won't submit the paperwork till everything is done. Which will be sometime after the middle of september. I was really discouraged at first, lots of stumbling blocks in the approval process, even though i was losing weight, it was going slow. Then I found this site. I have received so much encouragement and support here. In the process I learned that one of the reasons I was losing weight so slowly was that my body was in starvation mode and I was not eating enough . I upped my calories to 1000 per day, keep my carbs under 130 per day and get in 60-70 gr. of protein each day, I also drink 1/2 gal of water each day and do some type of exercise, although due to back problems I have quite a few restrictions. What I am getting at is I am no longer discouraged or impatient in this waiting phase, I am learning so much about nutrition and exercise. Until this point I had tried and failed at every diet out there. I'm not on a diet anymore I'm on a mission to learn to cook healthy, eat healthy, make good choices and to live healthy. I believe that by going through this process I will have the tools necessary not to regain any of they weight I have lost. (40 lbs). So many people here have said to follow the plan as if I already had weight loss surgery so by the time I have it done I'll already be used to the new eating plan. Good luck on your journey and everyone is here to help. Paulette
Hi Eileen and welcome to OH Illinois!
I just want to say that you are not in this alone. We may all be in different stages of our journey but we are all in this together. The support and friendship you will find here is like none other. I have learned so much here and I just love the people who gather here. We are like one big happy family....sometimes we do get grumpy but I think we are entitled to that. Good luck on your journey!
Good afternoon everyone!
It’s is a happy Monday for me, I was informed via phone my surgery has been approved!
It has been a long haul and with the latest issue of blood clots in my varicose veins, and new MD’s worried I have heart murmur it’s not over yet.
But the light is within site and now I feel so relieved that I don’t have to battle with CIGNA! It took about 3 days only after they received paperwork.
Thanks to all of you who have been cheering me on, I will need you lots more down the road.
You’re an awesome group and I am delighted to join in with you all on this battle of obesity.
