I AM SOOOOOO ANNOYED WITH DOCTORS!!!!
Jill, hugs to you my friend. I have no words of advise because before reading your post I had never heard of that filter thingie. I would get another opinion and see what that Dr says. I hate when you get 2 totally opposite views, can make for scary times! I'm sorry and I hope that it gets taken care of soon!!
Hi Monica! Thank you for the hugs! I needed that.... I am still getting no direct answer from anyone. Even Dr. Wallace said it can stay in and be fine and now he says go ahead and remove it. My gut is telling me to not have this procedure done and just elave it alone. UGH!!!! I am getting SO sick of these damn doctors!!
I went for my 3 month check up yesterady and all my labs were great. My B1 was a little low but that was it. I am now down 91lbs!!! HOLY CRAP!! I still do not beleive this and I have major issues about the weight loss. dont get me wrong, I am so happy, but its still SO hard to believe that I lost this much weight. I am going to a support group meeting this Sat. at ABMC at 9am. I have not been to one since my surgery! Opppps!!!
Talk soon Monica and thank you for your kind words!!!

I have had my filter for 2 years. I had a vascular surgeon place mine and he did it with the intention that it would be permanent. There are varying theories of whether these should be permanent or not but I trust a vascular surgeon when he says there is no harm in having them stay in permenently. I have a history of blood clots in the lungs and would not want to go there again. I though I had a clot in my leg a year ago and once I told the er doc about the filter there was a huge look of relief on his face and he almost sent me home without the doppler sonogram of the leg. So I think it is safer to leave it in.

Hi Nancy!
What a relief to hear that you have a filter in too! They want to try and remove it on July 29th, but I am going to see the hemotalogist before then to discuss this. I do not want to have to go through this procedure if its perfectly fine to leave in! Thank you SO much for your reply!!! Did your DR. happen to tell you that its dangerous to leave in? My hemo told me that it can act as a net and catch to many clots.... I dont know.... Every doctor is different, but sometimes I feel like they are ALL trying to cover their behinds.... Once again, thank you Nancy!!!
Looks like you are doing AMAZING with your RNY!!! Keep it up!!!
Best wishes,
Jill

Thanks for the encouragement! I need that right now as I am in a stall of several weeks. Ugh!
My cardiovascular surgeon had no problems with this being permanent. He felt that it was best to have this protection. I have since then had one PA tell me it could be a problem but I have never had another doctor tell me this.
