Questions after WLS
Good Morning to every one.
I have not posted in a long time and wondering if some of you might have some solutions. I am over 2 years out from surgery. I am still losing weight but I have run into some things I am not sure if they are part of normal life after surgery. Had my bypass in Feb. 2006. I started at 270 and now roughly bounce between 135 and 140 lbs. I have a very active job, I work in construction as a commerical electrican. My stamnia is very low. I found out I was anemic and started back on my iron. I am very curious if there is someone else out there with similar scenario. I get very tired. Then I get huge boost of energy and can last the day just keep doing stuff. I dont know if it is just the type of work I do that i am just burning up all the calories I take in and then the body starts using up it stores or if this is just what it is like after surgery. I get charlie horses all the time since surgery. Does any one else get like this? I try to get a lot of protein every day and veggies. I take a multi vitamin and b vitamins. My mom has suggested bee alive to help with energy. I have found out that my medication I take everyday doesnt work so I take a liquid. Has any one found a good liquid vitamin in larger quantities than centrum?
Hope all are well with surgery.
Any help would be great.
Thank you
nicole
Nicole, happy that you popped in to ask for some info. You did not say anything about taking calcium citrate and the amount of water you are getting in a day. Are you drinking at least 64oz's a day of water? If you are sweating a lot during the day or drink caffeine then you need to replace that lost fluids. There is a possibility that you need more calories due to the physical side of your work. You might want to touch base with a NUT and your doctor about a different type of vitamin regime.

Nicole, I have had good sucess with Vitamin Shoppe's liquid vitamins. Their stuff is usually very good quality at super prices. If there isn't one in your area, you can get their stuff on line. Also, not all calcium is easily digestible. The citrate may be more easily absorbed into your body. Charlie horses are also a sign of low potassium. Good luck. Paul
