Hello to my Illinois friends! This is going to be my first post and I really need anyones advice! My hubby and I are finally going out to dinner with my sister and her new boyfriend. (meeting him for the 1st time) We are going to a Mexican Restaurant. I am 3 months out from my RNY and so far I have had no problemo with food. I have eaten to fast at one point in time, but I have not dumped or gotten sick (yet). I'd love to keep it that way and I am very catious of everything I put into my mouth and my new pouch. The last thing that I want to happen tomorrow night is for me to get sick...while out in public!! We rarely go out to eat and when we do its always chicken for me and thats fine. Now...my question to all of you good people is "what should I eat at this restaurant?" Here is the website that has the menu online:  http://www.fuegomexgrill.com/dinein.html I know this might be asking to much, but could you take a look at it and tell me what might be good for me to have. Any suggestions would be awesome!! It sounds so silly for me to ask "what should I eat?" but since my RNY, I feel clueless at times. before my RNY I would eat anything that was not nailed down, now, as you all know so well, its a totally different ball game!  Thank you in advance to anyone willing to help this newbie out! I have been horrible at signing the morning roll calls, but I very much enjoy reading everyones posts!!  Thank you!! Best wishes to all! Jill

First I want to welcome you to the IL board, stop by everyday as we have a roll call,  Now for what to eat, When I was new out I ate the refried beans, but I see on the menu here on the sides they have black beans, I don't see alot of thing on their menu but you could ask for a chicken taco and just eat only the inside not the shell, that is what I always did, Or another thing would be share with your BF, Hope that helps. and please stop bye in the daily roll call, we all would love to have you. you don't need to  Peeking Over Fencehide anymore.

Welcome Jill, please join us on the daily roll call.  I'm sure that if you have been reading here you know that we are a lovely bunch of coconuts! I'm sorry I don't have any suggestions since I don't know your likes and dislikes. Maybe you should read each entree and decide what is and what isn't do able.  Janet's idea sounded good. Good luck picking something you like.

I would order the black beans topped with chihuahua cheese on the sides along with guacamole. That would give you protein and it would all be soft. Otherwise, I would get an enchilada or a taco and eat the filling but not the tortilla. I see a lot of things on the menu which I would try, including the tilapia.

Hi Jill. Welcome to the Illinois board. We are a great bunch, please join us on our daily roll call. I just looked at the menu, and it was making me drool. So many choices. You could go with an appetizer, a couple of sides, any of the chicken dishes. Its really up to you. Just have fun and enjoy. And no "Ritas"!
