Good Morning Harry - Welcome to the IL Board.  And Congrats on taking the steps to a healthier you.  I'm not sure exactly what you’re referring to but I think your talking maybe protein shakes.  In my opinion, I would not buy a bunch of different ones prior to your surgery because your taste buds do change and what you may have liked prior to surgery may be different after.  Just my opinion. Happy Fathers Day to all you Dads out there.  Today is going to be another busy day.  I'm heading off to wor****il noon then coming home and weather permitting, will work outside in the yard for a couple hours.  Calvin will be getting off work around three and I plan on getting cleaned up and out to dinner w/ him.  I talked grilling out but he wants to go to our favorite little Indian Restaurant.  So that is the plan. Hope everyone has a great day! Christina

Welcome Harry! This is a great board and I think you will enjoy it! I would tell you the same about protein powders. Order some samples and wait until after surgery to buy bigger portions. Tastes do change!

Happy Father's Day to the dads out there.

Quiet day here today after yesterday's running around. Right now it is pouring which is why I'm awake. Otherwise I'd be asleep! A nap is in my future!

Have a good day and stay dry!

Hi Illinois! Happy Father's Day to you fathers.  My son is at his fathers, so I miss him.... Tomorrow is the day, the day I start liquids!  So you can guess what I'm doing today...EATING....lol  I'm going to my dad's to his country club for a buffet, I really don't like it, but it's his day.  So my last supper will be a buffet....And I'm having my last starbucks too on the drive out to Indiana (where my father lives).  I hope the weather holds out for me, I hate driving alone a far distance.  I have sleep apenia and if I'm alone I get tired, and dooze off....so I don't like driving alone. Anywho, any tips you can give me not to be hungry next week, bring em on! Lynne

Lynne When I got really hungry on my liquid diet, I would drink a cup of hot tea or the broth.  Both seemed to hit the spot.  But the tea really was good as I would get tired of the broth.  I found if I mixed the chicken and beef broth together it was better.  I also would drink protein shots mixed with water to ward off hunger.  I was under the impression that I could not drink the protein shakes so I was not getting protein.  I thought it was clear liquids only.

cool thank you!  I actually forgot about tea, I'll have to go get some all I have here is green tea.  I was told not herbal things. Is there  a difference between protein shakes and protein bullets?

Protein shakes are mixed with water or milk and are a thicker consistency.  Bullets are concentrated and are kind of like jello water and come in fruity flavors.  When mixed with water or crystal light they are more like a fruit flavored drink.  Shakes are more like a milk shake.  I prefer the fruit flavored drink.  Some people just gulp the bullet down the hatch but I couldn't do that.  Bullets also have around 25 - 50 grams protein while shakes have around 25

Good Morning Harry and all my IL friends. Happy Father's day to those who are dads. Well, not much for me today, as I am still sitting here in the hospital.  I truly need some feedback from you on what I should do, as I am still in pain and not sure what to do.  All my tests have come back showing my gallbladder is fine, and the gastro dr. thinks is it is scar tissue.  Dr. Rantis is holding out on surgery, and I am trying to do the same but should I run the risk of having the gallbladder removed to see if the pain goes away. I am at ABMC on 6 West room 608 bed 1.  I can use some company aand some one to talk to for advice and sounding board.  So visitors and phone calls are welcome.  Welcome to the board Harry....

Hey Wendi, want a roommate?? I might be coming to the ER at ABMC as I am having sharp abdominal pains, diarrhea and nausea. Dr. Rantis is doing a case at Northwest Community. I just have to decide if I should go to the ER. I had a situation with pain after my hernia surgery. I was readmitted and they did a lot of testing. In the end, it was inflammation above the surgery site.... Hope you are better soon. Hugs, Lucy
