Far/West Chicago Burbs - Anyone else?

I'm living in Oswego, working in Naperville. My PCP is only one city away from work (Woodridge) but I'm having a hard time getting in with busy work schedules, bad appointment times, etc. I have been thinking about getting a new PCP, but my current one is very supportive of the surgery.  So do I stick with this doc or find a new one? I tried asking my surgeon's office (Vallina) if they knew of any docs in Aurora or Naperville that are supportive of weight loss surgery, and they simply suggested I call the DuPage referral line.  That was next to not helpful. I have new insurance, too - Aetna Health Fund POS II - and now I have hoops - a 6 month medically supervised diet and exercise program.  I'm bummed out because this was supposed to be my year to do this -but my next appt with my PCP, to get started on this requirement, is June 26, which puts my completion date of that requirement to December 26.  And ugh.  UGH.  This also means that I'll have to pay more out of pocket next year insurance-wise to get this done. I know it's my fault I'm fat, I know it's my fault I didn't get on this sooner, but this six month requirement just assures I'm going to be sick and miserable for six more months. Six more months of taking so much insulin just to feel something close to normal...   And the thought of that makes me extremely disheartened.

Just called Dr. Rupp and set up an appointment for next Wednesday.  I appreciate the referral. YAY! Now 6 more months of hell.

I had to do the 6 month diet too and I was dreading it, but ya know what?  It went fast and I was actually glad to have those 6 months to really figure out how I was going to deal with the surgery and the choices that came afterwards.  I am very glad that I had to do it. 

Come here often and ask a ton of questions if you need too.  We love new people here and by all means, please try to come to Christina's house on the 21st....it's so nice meeting people in person and we are all at different places in the journey.  I am not far from you either...I'm right in North Aurora off of Butterfield!
