Qualificaton question
I don't live in Illinois but I have a family memeber that lives in Normal IL, I am asking this question for him. What does your BMI need to be in order to qualify for WLS in IL ?? I live in Kentucky and here it is over 40 or 35-39 with a co-morbity. My cousin thinks it is different in IL. He also has Champus so if there is anyone that knows what the require I would love to hear from you too.
If I am right, Champus follows the same guidelines as Tricare.
- Is 100 pounds over ideal weight for height and bone structure and has one of these associated conditions: diabetes mellitus, hypertension, cholecystitis, narcolepsy, Pickwickian syndrome, hypothalamic disorders or severe arthritis of the weight-bearing joints
- Is 200 percent or more over ideal weight for height and bone structure
- Has had intestinal bypass or other surgery for obesity and because of complications, requires another surgery (takedown)
He should contact Champus and clarify what the steps are for obtaining surgery. He should also discuss this with his primary care doctor.
