I am Home
I did not walk today but plan on it tomorrow. I am having trouble with remembering the water as well, but go in some today. I am going to have to be more aware of these issues.
My tummy is sore. Do you know how long that will last? Also how much weight have you lost since you got the band? How are you eating now since you are past the four week mark?
Thanks Carol, you have been a help to me before surgery and I know I can count on you after.
Reading these boards can be very confusing. You have to pay attention to how far out from surgery someone is and what type of surgery they had.
We have different doctors, so we may have different routines to follow. Each doctor is different.
Please follow whatever your doctor has told you to do.
I'm currently eating 2-4oz of protein 3x a day. No snacks.
64+ox of liquid.
In another week I can add 1/4 cup vegetable 1x a day.
I was not in pain, but had discomfort from the port area for a few days. Each day will get a little better. It is very important to walk, sip and rest for recovery.
Here's a sample of my schedule:
7-8am I drink 16oz
8am-I eat protein
10am-1pm-I drink 20oz
1pm-I eat protein
3pm-6pm-I drink 20oz
6pm-I eat protein
8pm-bed-I drink 20oz.
Now some people will tell me I should not drink 1/2 hour before and after meals, but my doctor says we can drin****il we eat, then not for 1 1/2 hours after we eat. Again each doctor is different and you must follow your doctors routine.
Good luck and keep posting to let us know how your doing!
Right now my schedule is a whole lot different then yours. I am not due to see my surgeon for follow-up until June 9. I will see if he has any other instructions at that time. I did go walk today took my dog for a walk and plan on washing my laundry as soon as my boyfriend gets home so he can take the basket to the laundry room. I am getting in water but not as much as you. I never thought to drink my water in the morning before I eat.
I'm four weeks post op on my lap band, and I can tell you that the pain passes in a few days. But make sure you drink water! I didn't and I became dehydrated a bit. I also developed a kidney stone, but I'm prone to them, so don't worry about that. I found that starting the day with warm tea made it easier to drink the rest of the day (it broke up all the stuff in my throat). The walking will actually help with the pain. Even small amounts around the room. And the heating pad was my best friend. I also found that hot showers were a comfort. And the good news is that I've lost 20 pounds so far!
Good luck and feel free to PM me if I can be of help. Paul
