Have any of you Banders had the band placed over your RNY pouch?  I had my RNY in 12/2001 and I have gained 40lbs since losing 120.5lbs from 287lbs.  This 40lb weight gain is killing me, and Im looking into getting approved by my insurance company to have the Lap Band.  Can someone share the experience and results? Thanks so much!

Hi. I had a lap band placed two weeks ago. I had gained more than 50 pounds in the past year. My surgeon recommended it to me since I was eating way too much at mealtime... plus I have to confess I was grazing all the time. I was a self pay for the band because I didn't want to wait for insurance approval, as I was gaining consistently and was afraid that I would get up to 300 pounds. I have my first fill in two weeks so we'll see how it goes. It hurts more than the RNY because of the port placement. If you have any questions. you can PM me! Best wishes. Lucy

You may also want to ask your questions on the revision board. I'm sure someone there will have good advice/info for you. Not sure if you know about it, but you could also be revised to a duodenal switch (DS). You may want to check out the DS forum on OH, as well. Good luck! Nicolle

I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!

Thanks for everyone's responses. I am very active on the Revision forum, and I am well aware of the different revision procedures. I am specifically asking about members who had the Band placed over their Bypass!  Please understand, I have already tried two nonsurgical procedures which are really effective. I would like to know the effectiveness of the band placed over the bypass.
