New and Just had Consultation for RNY

Hi all, I am new and had been weighing out my options between the LapBand and the RNY.  I am 5'5" tall and weigh 244.  I had my initial consultation today with my surgeon and have decided to go with the RNY.  It will be open and he feels it is much less likely for there to be problems that way.  I trust him. My surgery will be at Decatur Memorial Hospital in Decatur, IL (obviously). I just made the call to let them know which surgery I had decided on and they will be calling back in the morning with more.   I am very nervous.  I have heard a lot of good about both surgeries but I have also heard a lot of bad too.  Scary to finally pick one.

One question though, why does the surgery have to be open?  I had both!  LOL  long story short, I had it done Lap, 2 1/2 weeks later had it done again Open for complications.  I am fine now and doing wonderful!!
