Hello!  I'm about 5 weeks out from surgery and have lost about 34.5 pounds (YEAH!!!) but I'm having a problem with my hips aching/hurting.... I spoke with my doctors nurse on it, I guess your hips adjust to weight loss... who knew?!  LOL!  Does anyone else have this problem?  Does anyone have any remedies they would like to suggest?   Did anyone have any aches/pains that they were surprised that they had after surgery? Just curious on how everyone else's body's have adjusted.... ♥Anna♥

Hi Anna, I too am haveing problems with my hips. I think my problems is that since I have lost so much weight I am doing more things, and that is what has caused my pain, But I also have Arthrits, Sorry to hear you hare having pain,  Congrats on your weight lost.

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!

Thanks Janet!  You're right, I'm doing a LOT more moving now then before, but the way Dr. Oliphant's nurse, Anne, explained it, you hips move in when you lose weight because they don't need as much support as when we were heavier.... I've taken HOT epson salt baths and that seems to help a lot.... I notice it more at night when I'm laying in bed... ♥Anna♥

Hi Anna, I've had a lot of luck with chiropractic adjustments getting me back to feeling normal.   I guess due to us carrying around all the extra weight, our bodies get out of whack..I noticed hip pain also.  My chiro is awesome...he does adjustments, stretching, etc.....and we've also discussed nutrition and vitamins. First visit with him, he looked at my chart and said, "oh you had LapBand?  My best friend had weight loss surgery too"....I had been apprehensive that he might be like my former chiro, who wasn't exactly weight-friendly....but he put me at ease from that first visit. Even if you don't go the chiro route, I know that stretching before walking has been very helpful to me. ~Paula

Thanks Paula, I didn't think about the Chiro!  I've not been to my chiropractor since before my surgery, but he is so very supportive of my descion to have the surgery!  He knows that I've struggeled with my weight for most of my life and he was almost as excited as I was for me to have my surgery!!!  LOL!  Isn't it great when people understand instead of judge!

My problem was, as I was losing weight, I was finally able to start crossing my legs. If I crossed them to much during the day, I ached all night. It is much better now.

Hi Anna. Yes, you do get some bony aches and pain. It happens as you lose your padding.  I couldn't sit for hours because my tailbone ached so much. I had to buy one of those pillows. It does get better after a while. One of the downsides to losing weight but it's so worth it! Lucy
