Group Near Tinley Park?

Are there any support groups near Tinley Park?

me!  i am from tinley park!  my lapband was this past tuesday.  my girlfriend, sue, is having hers on june 3rd (she is from oak forest)and we both met up with carol last friday and she is from orland park.  so we are making our own support group! all is welcome! near or far! :)

Oh cool, I actually live in Crestwood, which is next to Oak Forest....I would love to join you guys next time.   My surgery is scheduled for June 23....I'm scared, excited...scared of surgery scared I'll still be hungry after it.... Since Karey has already told you that the three of us have gotten together, I won't.  If your interested we can all get together again. Does your Dr. have a support group?  Our doctor has a monthly support group meeting. Any questions, please post them and we'll all be happy to try and help.

Yes he does have one, I haven't been yet, I'm going in June.  I do talk to a lot of people on a Yahoo Group from downstate, Champaign, they have been great.  I was just hoping to get to know people around here. Will you guys please let me know when you are going to get together again?  I am much further out than you guys but I have stopped going to my meetings and would love to start again.  If I am going to start again, why not start with you guys :) I am getting married in 4.5 weeks so timing will be difficult for me until after the wedding but I would love to meet up with you guys. Hi Nancy! We will let you know when we will meet again.  When we first met, Karey and Sue both had a lot of questions about my lapband, so it was just the 3 of us. I do think it would be a good idea for all the South Suburbs to get together.  Do you have any suggestions on where to meet other than a restaraunt? PM me when you will be available. Hi Paulette, Welcome to OH Illinois! Which surgery are you going to have? Where are you having surgery? Who is your doctor? I've had lapband and am thrilled that I did it. It is a lot of work but I know I have the help of my band. I'm already off blood pressure medicine and my doc has changed the dosage for my thyroid med. Congratulations on making the decision to become healthy! Post on the daily roll call so we can get to know you!

Hi Carol, Looks like I'll have RNY bypass but probably not still Sept or Oct. My insurance requires 6 months medically supervised diet and did not get that started till March 1st.  I've got all the other steps done or started. My surgeon will be Dr. Vitello at UIC. I met with he and his staff Friday, they are terrific. So caring and informative.  I'm nervous about it but figured I have plenty of time to get informed and become comfortable with it. My one friend had it done 3 yrs ago and lost 142 lbs, no complications just wonderful outcome.  I'll find the roll call and do that too.thanks, Paulette
