Regularity, finally!

I had lots of trouble following surgery -- tried lots of Benefiber, stool softeners, ate lots of fiber, ate stewed prunes, drank extra water, etc. Ended up with an impacted bowel --thought I would end up in the emergency room. My PCP presecribed Amitiza. It is great -- draws water to the bowel and really does soften. It is such a relief to not have to be constantly thinking about my plumbing and would it work today! Kay

Kay, I am so happy that you found a solution for relief. I have not really had that same prob but my DH has after his RNY. I have a bowel disease and I am, shall I say very regular . . .  We will not go there. Christine

Hi Kay..so happy to hear you are on the mends...I will have to ask my doctor about that medication..I feel like I am headed for a bowel obstruction.  Keep posting tis great to hear from you..

I am glad to hear that you have found an answer.  It is one of the vexing problems, post-surgery. I take Magnesium Oxide and it has helped quite a bit.

Glad to hear you found RELIEF! I am 14 months out and I have alot of trouble. I will ask my dr for some of that med. I have been having alot of lower back pain from this same trouble. So thank you for the info. Karen
