Do you like to bike ride?

Sunday May 25th in the early mornong Lake shore drive is going to be closed for several hours for a bike ride. www.bikethedrive.org I am registered and planning to do it. if anyone is interested we could get together to ride.  after the ride is a concert at MIlinneum park  at the Petrillo Bandshell - American English - a Beatles tribute band. I have seen them before and they are good.   I will likely get a hotel room the night before since the ride startss early.  I'm willing to share. I am loving my ability to be more active and do things I never would have thought possible just a few  years ago.   Sunday I rode the bike path from Crystal Lake  thru Algonquin, and Carpentersville, to Dundee,  and back -  I don't know how many miles it was but it was a gorious sunny day and I really enjoyed it.  Lifestyle change.  It is what it is all about.  I could never maintain without my committment to an active lifestyle.  It feels SO good I don't have the words to express how happy it makes me feel.

As Dave and I are avid riders we are really only "local" riders. We really only like to go into Chi Town via Metra and I would be afraid of the ridership on that day. We have talked about it several times. They only let you have 9 bikes per train and it would just be our luck that we could not get back home when we tried to get on a few of the last trains. I have a bike rake for my car but never have been comfortable going long distances with a bike(s) on the rear. Going 5 miles to the bikes shop is about all I can take. Hope you have a fabulous time and come back and tell us how it went. Maybe one of these days we will chance it and go on a Saturday when there are more trains. Sunday's there is only a train every two hours; east or westbound.  Chris

unfortunately Metra doesn't even go early enough for the BIke the Drive event -  I know they said on the web site that the CTA lifted thier restriction for the number of bikes for that day, but Metra wasn't a real option since the ride starts so early.  I got a bike rack for my car - made by Saris - called a Bones 2 and I have taken it  to Wwisconsin when I went to Oconomowac for the week end.  thats about 120 miles I'd guess.  I think I am going the night before and staying over in a hotel - and just keep my bike in the room with me. Do you have bike trails near you?  I rode the trail from Crystal lake to Dundee last Sunday when it was so nice out.  We should get together - I'd drive my bike your way to meet up with you on a trail sometime.
