I'm Back and I'm Banded!!!

Hi everybody!  I'm back from my trip and I am officially banded!  Due to having a bigggg stomach, there seems to be a lot of inflamation so liquids are not passing very easily.  I'm sipping very small amounts right now (1/4 teaspoon) and it hurts a bit if I go too fast, but the doctor said it should improve in a day or two.  The incisions are a bit stingy, but not too bad.  We upgraded to first class to make the ride back a bit easier and the flight attendant just could not understand how I could refuse the warm cookies!  I woke up this morning with a 105 blood sugar!!!  I can't wait until liquids go down a little easier.  I'm on clear fluids for two weeks due to the tightness of the band, but that's okay with me.  I just worry about dehydration.  But I'm sure I'll be okay once the gas subsides.  As an exciting side note, it seems I lost about 4 pounds while I was in Orlando.  So I was off to a good start.  The surgery itself was uneventful.  I don't remember a thing, and the pain was very minimul.  The worst part has been the gas, and that has been liveable for now.  I'm tired from the trip, but I'll be on tomorrow.  Paul

Welcome home! Each day will be better and better and then you'll barely remember the surgery. Of course I wouldn't have believed this if I had been told it 6 months ago--but it does happen.

So glad everything went well and that you are safely home!

Hi Paul, Happy to hear you're back after a successful surgery.  If you continure to have difficulty getting enough fluids down, you may want to consider calling your PMD office to see if they can give you some IV fluids.  If not try an urgent care or ER and ask for a couple of liters of IV fluids.   You'll feel better if you stay hydrated.   Chances are the swelling will go down in a few days and you'll be able to get enough in by yourself. Yay, Paul's a loser!  Congrats Paul and I wish you a speedy recovery!  I am so glad that things went well and you had no problems.  I can't help you with band questions, but you'll get lots of help here as you already know!

Monica

The topic of this thread sounds like a legal issue.  Yeah I am back to my old self again :)  Welcome to the losers bench Paul.  Pretty soon we will have room for another.  I have stalled, and will shortly (as soon as I get insurance) be looking for a new doctor to get this moving again.  But you are starting so keep it up, or down, oh you know what I mean!

Welcome home Paul.. things will get  better day by day...sip sip sip and when you can walk walk walk..that helps with the gas.  Even if you are just walking around the house.  I use to take a walk around my yard every few hours and that relieved alot of it. Welcome to the losers bench we all seem to be fitting on it better after every weigh in.
