Hello to Everyone!
Hi Everyone I am new to this board. I have just started the WLS process and just submitted all my paperwork and now I am waiting to hear back about when I can start this journey. I am so excited!!! My surgery probably won't be until the fall because of insurance requirements...but that's okay. I will have surgery in Woodstock, IL at Memorial Medical Center with Dr. Heydari...so if anyone has any experience with this facility or with this surgeon let me know. Did I say I am excited? hehehe.
Jody
Hi Jody and Welcome to the board and the WLS journey! I am alot like you - I am older at age 36 (37 next week!), but I have fertility issues because of my weight as well (I read your profile). I should be having my surgery in June because I am a self-pay patient. My primary Dr. actually referred me to Dr. Heydari, but I chose a Dr. that was closer to my home since I am self-pay. Are you having the RNY or lap-band?
I am excited for you that you have made the decision do this! I am also excited to hear you are adopting. That will be coming up for my DH and I in the future.
Keep us informed of all your progress with everything and Good Luck!
Kandy :)
Hi Kandy!
I will be having the RNY done. I so understand wanting to be close to home. Woodstock is just 15 minutes for me. I used to work at the hospital (medical transcriptionist) and Dr. Heydari is wonderful (and not too bad looking either)! I have many family members that have this surgery and have seen what they have went through and I know I have all of their support.
Oh, I am so excited to adopt. We have been trying for almost 10 years. I am not getting any younger...and there is so much more to being a parent than just giving birth. I guess secretly I am also hoping that losing so much weight will help the infertility issues too, but that is not for certain and I want the sure thing!!! We are adopting through Lutheran Social Services and so far they have been so great. We are getting ready to start all of the home study and after that is complete, we are on "The List" :) Good Luck to you and your DH too!

Welcome to a great board Jody, we have many helpful ladies and men here that are at all different stages of the journey.
I'm Monica and am almost 4 weeks out of Open RYN (April 9th). I had no problems getting approved at all, I did what the insurance wanted and they approved me the first time. I live in North Aurora with my husband, 2 sons and a stepson.
Please continue to post and share your stories and life!! :-)
Welcome Jody! I don't know which side of Woodstock you live, but we have a support group in Rockford on the third Monday of each month at the College of Medicine. If you live in our direction, let me know and I'll give you directions.
