My summer clothes

Saturday night I unpacked my summer clothes from last year. I can't believe that I was that small!! I am so upset with myself that I did this to myself. I can't blame anyone or anything, I was the one who put the food in my mouth. I have a lot of self-hatred right now. It was quite a visual wake-up for me. Now all I think about is my tiny clothes... I made a promise to myself. I am getting to goal and staying there. No more gaining and gaining. I am on track and will lose a little weight before surgery. No more playing games with myself by saying tomorrow I'll be back on track. It didn't happen. That's why I gained so much and my clothes don't fit.  I can't wear my cute bikinis... OUCH! I was only eating more at meal time but eating in between meals and drinking with eating too. All bad!! Eating the sugary, carbs, candy, etc.. you name it. I'm confessing to you all because I know that you can understand.. bad habits are hard to break and when my pouch stretched... after a little more food, and then a lot of food, I gained big time. So I have to fess up and here I am. 2 1/2 weeks before my lap band. Thank God and Dr. Guske that I have one more chance to get it right and right I will! No more testing to see if I can tolerate foods that are not healthy. Tomorrow I have my nutritionist appointment and then on Thursday my pre-op testing at Alexian Brothers. This gal is getting to goal this year!! Then I will have to learn how to maintain it. That will be the hardest lesson of all. Lucy

Lucy, it doesn't help to beat yourself up over this. You are going to rectify it by having Lapband done. You know you will not lose it as fast as with your by-pass, but you will lose. Besides, if you over eat with the lapband, it will come back up. Hugs

Hi Lisa. I'm hoping that it's going to be about the same pace, since I did have the bypass plus now the banding. It should be a bit more than just having the lap band in terms of weight loss. Plus, spearheading  the exercise, should increase my weight loss. I like the idea of not being able to eat much... that where I need the discipline! Hugs, Lucy

Lisa's right Lucy, you are on the right track. You have taken steps to get back where you want to be. She is also right about over eatting with the band it will come back up if its even 1 bite too much. Drinking while eatting, NOPE it will also bring what you've eatten  back up. I do not even order  a drink when I go out to eat because I can  not even take a sip. So you won't have to worry about drinking while eatting again. I use to could eat chips and chocolate after my surgery but for some reason recently I can't. Thats a good thing because when I could not eat a real protein rich meal I was in the habit of substituiting it with junk food. Now I can eat chicken, pork, beef, eggs and my veggies w/out getting stuck due to the proper bite size and chewing, but my junk food s gets sooooooo stuck, a blessing for me because my weight loss had stalled. I have lost inches though. So good luck on you pre-op testing and the surgery too.  Karen  :)

Hi Karen. Thanks for the words of wisdom on lap banding. Sounds like just what I need to get control of myself. I am not going to test the waters after the lap band. I am going to be diligent by eating the right and healthy foods. I don't want that painful feeling that doesn't go away for a long time or the slimming (slime) that lap banders get either.  Time is almost there and I am so ready for this! Lucy

((((Lucy))) Please don't beat your self up over this, We all have the same problems, If we did not eat too much we would not to have this surgery in the frist place, You can do this as you have already been to goal and know what it feels like, Me I have never been thin, and I am afraid as hell that I will never get their or if I do get their I will gain it back again, and that I don't think I will ever be safe around food again, I am already getting into bad eatting habits again, with this SF ice cream, I told Jim that I am not going to buy any more I just don't have the will to stay out of it,  Lucy you will get back into  the cute Bikini 2  again, I have faith in you,  If you need someone to talk to remember I am here as well as everyone here on the IL board, we love you and want to see you be happy  Here is a big  Big Hugfor you my friend

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!

Lucy - Instead of beating yourself up, congratulate yourself for getting back on track and putting the steps in place for yourself to once again fit in those clothes.   Denise
