All I can say is.....WOW
Hello Everyone! I haven't posted in awhile. I decided to go through Lifeweigh Bariatrics in DG and I went to the seminar on 4/10. I really liked Dr. Rosen. I have my first appointment set for 4/29. I posted before that I am a self-pay patient because I work for a small company and my insurance has a specific exclusion in it for WLS. I was going to take out a loan to pay for the gastric bypass. Well...........can you believe that my mother-in-law offered to pay for the surgery? Yes - my mother-in-law! She is a great lady and I feel so blessed to have her in my life. I know she wants me to be happy, but I also know she is desperate for a grandchild (her only children are a daughter (turning 58 next month) who never had children and her son (my DH) who is age 47 and no kids yet). I am 10 years younger than my DH and I am his first wife and he has no children. My weight is a big factor in not being able to get PG (we've both been checked out). I didn't even ask my MIL for help at all. She offered. I told her I would like to pay her back. She told me to do whatever I wanted, but I don't have to. Just when I think there are few good people left in the world, my MIL makes this generous offer for me and knocks me off my feet.
I will quit smoking as soon as my last pack is gone (in the next day or two) because I know I have to be smoke-free 30 days prior to surgery. If everything checks out good and I follow what I need to do, it shouldn't be long before I get a surgery date!
I am so excited!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Kandy, WOWSER and welcome back to the board. The 29th is just around the corner and you will be bowled over with the staff they are so great. Do whatever you can to stay away from smoking because that is not an option to have one or two here and there. You will need to be totally smoke free or it will delay your date Dr R does not fool around with that. Start doing your homework now and become a well informed patient, ask all the questions that you want from us here about the LWB program as many of us have been through it. I would also recommend that you cut out soda and caffeine as soon as you can. Christine
