Friday Roll Call
Good morning all you Illinoisians.
I am so glad Monica is on the road to recovery and getting home. Dawn you are such a good angel!
I have 2 wow moments to tell you all.....My cousin (always a thin one) gave me all her "skinny" clothes (not her fat clothes)....and most of them fit! I bet she gave me about 15 pairs of very nice jeans! I get the stares at work now! Ya know the good ones! I am so excited about this......now for my other wow moment, one of my drivers tonight had to come back to pick something up from me so she came down wrong way on a one way.....and right as she turned in 2 cops followed her with the lights.....So I flirted my way out of that for her! And it worked! They warned her verbally! Now I know it might not have been the right thing but I'm liking it right now! So is my driver! LOL I just LOVE my wls!
So what is everyone going to do in this wet forecast for the weekend? It's getting old real fast!
Everyone have a good day!
Pam
WOWSER on your two WOWs that is totally awesome.
Good morning to all Illini's
Not much going on with me today other than work at 7am to 3pm, then I have not even touched base with Dave as to what we are doing tonight. I do need to get a good night's rest because I have a full day tomorrow. I will be spending the day at Navy Pier with the LWB team at the Diabetes Expo. Dr Rosen will be speaking at 2pm on the subject of "Should Weight Loss Surgery Be A Part of Your Life?" Dave and I are going to take the train down and cab it to the pier. Normally we would walk the 3 miles from Union Station but I do not want my "dogs" to be barking later in the day.
Well, need to get moving and ready for work.

Christine

Good Morning Pam & IL -
Just another work day for me. Both Jobs today. Tomorrow I'm working in the morning and going to a craft fair after work at college of dupage. I'm looking forward to that.
Calvin is off both Saturday and Sunday so I'm sure we'll go out for dinner on Sat night.
Need to get some things done around the house this weekend and get ready for our trip to MD next weekend.
Have a great day and congrats on the WOW!
Christina

Good morning Illinois! Pam, I could have used you last Friday, as I got a ticket for speeding.... It wasn't right though. First the cop told me that it was a 35 mile zone; then as he was writing up the ticket, I got out of the car and asked to see the radar. He told me he had already erased it! If it wasn't that I had to renew my license in May, I would fight this ticket. There was no way I was going 55 with medium traffic! Now I may have to go to class but for the entire day... we'll see.
I'm feeling better since my visit with Dr. Guske and feel like I have some hope in this battle I created.
Tomorrow I have to go to a wake for my best friend's mother who passed away on Wednesday. Then I'm off to Michigan City to the Blue Chip for some relaxation and fun. I have a free night stay for April so I am taking advantage of it tomorrow.
I hope that we have a good turnout for our party next Saturday!
I talked to Monica yesterday. She is holding her own. She is relieved that the problem is taken care of and hopes that she is on her way to a full recovery. She misses her son very much.
Wishing everyone a great day!
Hugs,
Lucy

Happy Friday Everyone!
Tracee here. Well at least the sun is shining alittle this morning. I'll take it!
Need to get my oldest off to school in a few minutes. Then it's to the grocery store. I am struggling to find things to make for dinner since hubby isn't here. It's just the girls and I and what's the point of cooking? I know, I need to right?
Anyone have some good simple, high protein recipes I can snag??? I promise to give credit where credit is due! :)
Tomorrow the dogs have appts with the vet for heart worm meds. We didn't have to worry about that in Alaska, fleas or ticks either. Then I think I'm heading over to my friends house just to veg. Sunday is church and hopefully a break in the weather will let the girls and I go for a walk. Boring weekend, I know, but right now I welcome it.
Have a Blessed Weekend Everyone!!!
Here are some ideas that I got from Bariatric Eating:
Easy Protein Lunches
1. Deli Roll ups… turkey, ham, cheese, rolled up in a big lettuce leaf with mayo or mustard
2. Soup with AnyWhey Unflavored Instantized Protein (Progresso, Swanson Chicken or Beef Broth are also good to use) with a little Parmesan cheese to cover any protein taste.
3. Half of a Wasa flatbread cracker, with shaved ham, turkey or roast beef
4. Chicken, Tuna, Egg, or Shrimp salad, made with reduced fat mayonnaise and either a tablespoon of Newmans Own bottled salad dressing for flavor, or a little water or broth to make it loose and moist
5. Refried beans with salsa & cheese (can be prepared ahead and microwaved at work).
6. Pouch tuna with bottled salad dressing.
7. Baby greens with a slice hard cooked egg and bottled salad dressing.
8. Leftover salmon from last nights supper, flaked with baby greens & bottled salad dressing.
9. Leftover chicken, very thinly sliced, tossed with mayonnaise and sliced almonds.
10. Scoop of ricotta cheese, spoonful of spaghetti sauce (watch for sugar, Classico is low), bit of shredded mozzarella… microwaved or broiled. If you scoop it up with low carb crackers, it's almost like pizza.
11. Scoop of tuna salad, on top of sliced of tomato, slice of Swiss cheese, broiled or microwaved.
12. Good ole Protein Smoothie
13. Tuna, egg, or salmon salad on top of low carb crackers
14. Tortilla pizza----sauce, cheese, toppings of your choice on a low carb tortilla.
15. 3 mozzarella sticks with a little garlic powder and oregano sprinkled on top and melted in the microwave
16. Make little mini quiches, in muffin tins. Eggs, a little turkey bacon, fat free mozzerella, fresh chives and fresh nutmeg, very yummy and they freeze very well. Just grab 1 out for lunch and throw it in the microwave.
17.1/2 cup of Hormel Turkey Chili (no beans) w/ 1 tbls of shredded cheese and a dollop of ff sour cream.
18. Chicken cooked with white beans and salsa w/extra cilantro. Beans have fiber and protein
20. Small Wendy's chili with the little packet of low fat sour cream- and hey- it's only $1!
21. Portabello mushroom-with feta cheese on top, baked in the oven for about 10 minutes.
22. A slice of deli ham, spread with a little whipped cream cheese with chives, then put in 2 pieces of pickled okra (small ends together) and roll it up.
23. Tuna (drained but plain), a scoop of cottage cheese all on a bed of shredded lettuce. Drizzle it with a litte low fat italian dressing and it is unbelievably good.
Good morning Pam and the rest of IL, Glad to hear that Monica is doing better, she will be glad when she gets home,
Pam Congrat on you two wow's and Flirting with the cop's you bad girl
You go girl.

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!
