I need to find a good home for my dog.
Cross-posted from the main board.
I have a wonderful dalmatian that I need to find a good home for. I have to move back in with my mom and she just doesn't have the space for me, my daughter, 2 cats, and a 75 lb dog. I love him dearly and this is killing me, but I really have no choice.
He's best if he's the only pet in a house. He was attacked at the beach by 2 dogs when he was younger and multiple trainers haven't been able to get him to be ok with other animals. He's really affectionate and needs a lot of exercise. He'd be great for someone who likes running and he can keep up with the best of em. He's getting older now (he turned 9 in February), but he still is very high-energy.
I really hate doing this but I have no other options. It would be nice if it was someone in northern IL because I'd really like to be able to see him and see the home that he will be in so I know that I'm sending him to a good home.
I would take him in a heartbeat but I have 2 dogs already and he most likely wouldnt get along. Have you placed him yet? I will ask around and see if anyone is interested. I know how hard this is for you, losing a pet is like losing a member of the family. It really hurts. And with everything you have going on right now this is just not right.
How are you? Please keep in touch, and remember that people do care and are here for you.

Try the dalmation rescue of Illinois:

They will place your dog in a loving home that is appropriate for him. You can rest easy putting him in a rescue - these are some of the most committed and loving folks for any breed.
Good Luck!

I tried them already. They don't even have a temporary home for him since he doesn't get along with other dogs. They are trying to find somewhere for him though. I just have limited time and am trying everywhere that I can. I refuse to put him in a shelter or anything, and I'll just have to come up with money to pay the mortgage until I find somewhere.
