How bad is it when they pull the drains out?  I am already stressing about it and it's not even til Wed.  I have heard some bad things....lol   Tell me how it was for you please.      Also, is it okay and does it count towards my water intake that i chew on ice chips all the time in between meals?   Thanks

Monica

It hurts for a second-taking out the stitches type of thing, but you'll be so much more comfortable.  It's really not bad, I've had it done many times.  You'll be fine-hang in there-Big hugs-Janet K

Hi Monica...When I had my drain out I was worried also that it was going to hurt. I asked Dr Rantis before he started how bad it was going to hurt and he said not at all...the stitches were a little pinch but I was waiting as he was pulling out the drain for it to hurt and it didn't at all. As far as the ice chips..yes they do count towards your water but make sure you stop  30 min before and 30 after a meal. Sounds like you are doing great! Keep up the good work and try and get 60g protein and 64 oz of water.

For me it was a huge relief to get it out.  It didn't hurt at all.  Dr. Guske is very very gentle.  I was so uncomfortable with it and was really glad it was out. Compared with other things that you've alredy been through it should be a piece of cake.
Regards and hugs,

Ronna

Monica, Monica, Monica (Brady Bunch-Marcia-Marcia-Marcia) can you say breath in and breath out? There is a pinch when they pull up on the suture then you will be told to breath in, hold you breath and they will pull out the drain. You are concentrating on the pinch, breath in and out that you will not really know that it happened. The drain is only sutured on the surface, not deep inside. Yes the water from the chips count but it is only about 1/2 cup of water. Just let a cup of chips melt and you will find out how much it is. Chris
