Kane Center - Anyone else Self Pay?
Hello All,
I have recently decided to have the gastric bypass surgery through the Kane Center. I already know my health insurance won't cover it, so I am a self pay patient. I was hoping to get on the fast track program. I went to a seminar over a year ago, so they are making me goto another one on 4/12. I plan on filling out all the paperwork at the seminar and turning it in right there. I was wondering how long from when I turn in the paperwork I might have to wait before I get a surgery date? I know I will have to have tests done, etc. Has anyone else been a self pay patient and been fast tracked? What did you have to do before surgery and when was your surgery date?
Thank you!

Hi Kandy, and welcome to the Illinois board.
The only one that was self pay, and went to the Kane Center is Lucy, that I know of.She will generally check in sometimes during the day. I wasn't self pay, but it was less then a month from when they turned in to the insurance and I had the surgery.
Please come in and tell us all about yourself, on the Roll Call

Kandy, sorry do not know much about the self pay with the Kane Center. Just wanted to welcome you to the IL board. We could have met each other at the seminar on the 12th but my DH and I have another function down at Navy Pier that day. Dave and I come to some of their seminars and give our testimonys. My understanding is that they will try and get you through real fast but you still need to see all the other specialists before approval. Sometimes it is as fast as 4 weeks.

Welcome to the board. I wasn't self pay but this should save you all the time on waiting for insurance approval.
You still will have to go through all the required testing which they say typically takes about 30 days.
Good luck and hope to see you sometime soon at a Support Group.
We meet the 3rd Saturday of the month at Alexian Bros Hospital.
Regards and hugs,
Ronna
