Saturday Roll Call
Good morning Illinois on the sunny day. If we don't go outside we can pretend it's warm!
Dawn, I'm glad you got to Madison and to Trader Joe's. We got the best hummus there. I'll make a special trip to get that again!
Kim, we can go out as soon as you feel up to it! I told my doc that I thought the band was made in Mexico because that was all I wanted to eat! In fact one of my first mushy foods was the inside of a burrito blended in my magic bullet.
We are going to a birthday party today for a special one year old in our life. I work with his parents and I have been looking forward to his first birthday.
One of the workshops I went to last week was on how they are using breathing meditations in substance abuse treatment now that they can prove it helps the brain. I went to Borders and got the book. I'll let you know how it works for head hunger. I have actually done this for years, but not in a specific way.
Have a good weekend folks!

Hello Everyone! Lisa directed me here to introduce myself. My name is Kandy - I am 36 years old, 5'9" and currently weigh 330#. I have been overweight since about 10 years old and like everyone else here, I have been on every single diet you can imagine! I was able to lose about 120# in '96-'97 by exercising and eating right all on my own. I've tried to do that again after gaining the weight back and now being married for 4 years. It's not working. About 6 months ago, I had 3 herniated discs in my back - one of which was pinching a nerve and causing me excruciating pain. After over a month in pain and 3 shots in my spine, I was pain free and so happy. Well, just this past week, the pain has returned and I am miserable. I need to lose this weight because I cannot imagine having to go through this every six months or more. Also, my husband and I have been trying to conceive for nearly as long as we have been married with no luck. We have been to fertiliy Dr's and we both check out fine. I don't get normal periods, so I attribute it to my weight. My little sister (who is a pediatrician) has had the gastric bypass and has lost over 150 pounds. She looks and feels great. She never had regular periods and she said she is not right on track each month! I know if I don't get the WLS, I am headed for even more health problems. I have a history of heart disease and obesity in my family. I want to live. I want to cross my legs. I want to wear cute clothes. I want to go on vacations and not have to ask for a seatbelt extender. I want to go bike riding with my husband and go out to eat without worrying about not fitting in the booth. I know I am ready for this surgery. I don't even care that I have to take out a loan to pay for it. My health insurance won't pay. I want to get on the fast track program and get the WLS done ASAP. Well, that is about me. I hope to make new friends here! Kandy :)
