Reflections at 3 months out
As I write this, I will be 3 months post op as of March 28th. I am 46 lbs lighter, and have pretty much gone through the closet of clothes. It has been really interesting to find that things that I wore at the same weight once before, I still can not wear as I lost weight in other places. I have learned to focus on me, and put me first. Which in my world is almost impossible, but I make an effort to carve some time out during the weekend where I can runaway.
I gotten comfortable with my tool, but I have caught myself mindlessly snacking in the afternoon at work, so to cut that out I took all the emergency stash out and only pack what will be eaten during the day. that is a morning and afternoon snack, and lunch.
I have pictures of where I was, and I found a couple of pictures from when I was dating my husband at 160lbs. I also have to remember that this weight came up over the last 13 years, so it will take time to come off. Patience, Patience, Patience.
I have found that my taste have changed. I find potatoes bitter, and boiled eggs taste nasty. I also am no longer able to tolerate left over meat. I can eat about 1-2 cups of food, and if I go beyond that, my pouch will let me know with a burp and hiccups.
But, I think the biggest reward I have gotten, is all the wonderful friends here on the IL board who are loving, caring, and supportive. Hugs and Kisses to all.
Wendy,
I'm inspired by your story! We live in times that do not make us feel very good. We all have gotten to a point where we need to take back control of our bodies and our lives, and you've not only done that, but you've given me inspiration to go forward as well. You speak of the how great this board is and how much you've gotten from it. But I see it as a place that I can get all that from YOU! Thank you for that. I pray your journey continues to be successful and that it gets easier as you travel.

Dear Wendi:
What a terrific post! I am proud of you for having come this far so well. You are doing awesome!
It is very important to take time for yourself, WLS or not. I am glad that you are learning to do that. It seems as women, we have the hardest time doing that.
I wish you a wonderful day and weekend!
Gosh, three months already. I found it really fun with the clothing part of it. I did end up going to resale shops a lot especially for jeans because they are so much cheaper there. I find some really nice sweaters at the resale shops and also this last year I have also found a lot of fleecie type of tops.

Wendi, you have done so well! I think the change in taste of foods is kind of typical. I've read it many times and I have some of it myself. I like spicy more than I did before and am keeping the salsa people in business.
Keep taking care of yourself and carving out time for yourself. It is the best give we can give our families--a healthy self!
