Morning Illinoisians! OK this snow is just too much even for me who loves snow! Come on, it's Easter for pete's sake. Oh well, "it's a mark of leadership to adjust".  So I will adjust, but I needed a brief whine!

Did you Rockford area folks see my students in the paper today? Wahoo, we had 6 match in Psychiatry and 2 more in Psych and another specialty. That's a record! It was an exciting day!

I had planned to hit the yarn shop sale today so I am mushing out for that and then I have to go to the family Practice Residency at lunch to lead a support group. I look forward to this every month, so this will be a good day, snow or not! I have plenty to read and plenty of yarn so it will be a good weekend. We have no plans for the holiday with families scattered, so it will be a normal Sunday for us. I'll probably be on the OH site off and on all weekend.

Take care everyone, good wishes to those who are traveling and celebrating!

Morning everyone. I have a normal work day today. Then DH and I are having a ****tail party this evening to celebrate the completion of our remodeled basement & bar (hubby's play room). So this means I will be cooking food for other people that I can't eat. Everyone have a safe and Happy Easter! Theresa, Rockford surgery / current / goal 233 / 189.5 / 140

Good Morning everyone!  I can't believe this weather.  Yesterday when I took the boys to their dad's I only wore a sweatshirt and they both forgot to even bring their jackets with.  I sure hope their dad has something warm they can wear otherwise they are both going to come home sick.  not a good thing.

Today is my first official day of unemployment.  My boss is closing the doors today for good.  I am going to use this time to concentrate on healing and getting the first semester of my schooling done.  Then I will worry about finding a new job.

Yay, Kim...she's a loser now.  Anyone know how she's doing?  I haven't read ahead.  I can't wait til Monday, I am SO excited that it's finally my time.  Dawn is my angel and Mike will call her when I am out of surgery so she can update you all!

Today I was supposed to go to breakfast with one of my best friends, but I can't get ahold of her.  weird.  I am starving too.  I guess I'll just go and eat something.  oh well.

Everyone have a wonderful, warm and safe Good Friday!

Monica

Hi Everybody Again! I'm starting to prepare for my post-op diet!  Last night I went and bought a "Magic Bullet" blender at the suggestion of a friend who is 2 years po.  I've ordered a small amount of Unjury protein, but I was wondering if anybody has any suggestions for protein mixes that are really good?  I've heard that egg is better than whey, but I would like your opinions. Thanks, Paul

Hi Paul and welcome to the Illinois board!  It is always good to meet new friends. We are having a get together on April 19th--watch for Lucy's posts. The best absorbed protein is the Whey Isolate.  Egg protein is not very high on the list of what works best.  I can't speak for how the egg protein tastes in comparison as I have never tried it. I really LOVE the IDS Multi-Pro Whey Isolate.  My favorite flavors are Belgian Chocolate and Cappucino.  Both taste great (and creamy) just mixed with water, although sometimes, if making it warm, I add sugar free syrups or Sugar Free/Caffeine Free International Coffees. If you don't like the milky taste, the Nectar proteins are more like fruit juice (or Kool Aid).  Some people LOVE them and some people don't. The best thing to do is to go to either www.bariatriceating.com or www.vitalady.com and order samples.  I did that and kept a log of each sample and what I liked/disliked about each until I found my favorites. The Unjury unflavored can be added to anything, and there is also a good unflavored called "Any Whey" that I have had great luck with. I have heard the GNC carries some Whey Isolate that a lot of people like.  If you purchase something from GNC and do not like it, you CAN return it. There are also "bullets" that are like test tubes with 42 grams of protien in a fruit flavored (kind of like watered jello) liquid.  They are only 3 oz. and they go "down the hatch" without too much trouble. Congratulations on thinking ahead, but don't buy too much as many people say that their tastes change after surgery.  (This did not happen to me.) Again, welcome and I hope I have been of some help. Have a great time over the weekend, I just LOVE the Madison area!

Tell someone that you love them!

Good afternoon Pam and the Illinois board! We have flurries here but not too much.  Since my husband is now home from the hospital we will be spending a quiet week-end at home. My daughter's family will come for Easter dinner. I can't wait to see Ava and Vince. The kids are just so excited about the bunny coming.  I hope Kim is doing well now that she is on the loser's bench. Monica,  I will be thinking about you on Monday. Dawn, thanks for the info you gave Paul about the protien drinks. I made a note of them too! After my education class on Monday, I will have to start getting ready for post-op. To everyone, have a safe and happy week-end.
