Wicked vs Jersey Boy - Theatre
Needs some help from my IL family..........
Just trying to get some opinions/input from everyone.. I would like to take Amanda (my step-daughter) to a play this upcoming weekend and was wondering if anyone had seen Wicked or Jersey Boy.. If so, what did you think? I really would like your opinion considering the seats are in my opinion "pricey". $100. + per seat.
I also had thought about taking her to see "Who's afraid of Virginiia Woolf?" which is playing at the League of Chicago Theatres. (prices are more up my alley at 13.50 per seat. LOL) This one reads... The quintessentially dysfunctional marriage, filled with venomous hate, toxic wit, raging sarcasm, corrosive humore, and.... love. I think it sounds pretty good.
But seriously, if you really think it's worth it, I would rather spend the money and have a memorable time w/ Amanda.
Thanks for your input.

Well, it all depends if Amanda likes retro music then from what I understand it is fantastic. I know Dave and I would love it. Last night on PBS, channel 11 and Lakeshore TV out of IN they had great retro music for both station's fund drives. Lakeshore had folk music and 11 had 60's etc music. I bought into both stations for the gifts they were offering. Actually, we watch the station out of IN more than 11 because Lakeshore does not shove evolution down your throat.
You know I would think of somewhere else to take her, like the Art Institute, one of the museums, Navy Pier, a double decker bus tour, walk along the lake front, The Bean at Grant Park, go for a Segway tour (Dave and I did this last year and loved it!!!), the trolleys are free in downtown, House of Blues, The Han**** Skydeck (better view over Navy Pier), Sears Skydeck, Achitechturial tours on the Chgo river, just plain walking in downtown and being able to talk and going shopping like a teenager loves, also Michigan Ave. You will not be able to talk in the theater. There are a mess of neat restaurants to go down there, Reagle Beagle, Ed Debeviks, Rainforest, Rock 'N Roll Macs, Bubba Gumps on Navy Pier, Johnny Rocket's, It is all about making memories. Wicked was so very good, I have seen it twice. The first time I took my then 9 year old daughter and 6 year old daughter. Both of my daughters loved it so much. We bought the CD and play it all the time. The second time I took my best friend and she loved it as well. We are now planning a girls weekend in Chicago and we plan to see Wicked for my 3rd time. It was so funny and easy to follow, The music was great and the acting was excellent.
Wicked rocked-it was beyond description! You'll never look at The Wizard of Oz the same way. I know Jersey Boys is good too-but if you're not into that era of music( I LOVED the Four Seasons and had the biggest crush on Frankie Valli!) it might be boring for a girl her age. Also-Wicked sends a message about accepting people as they are, not how they look. Virginia Woolf is pretty deep and dark- not a feel good play at all. Hugs-Janet
I saw Jersey Boys over Christmas and it was the BEST musical I've seen in years! Tickets were pricey ($85) but we had great seats and I loved every minute of it.
Haven't seen Wicked so I can't really comment on that one.
I just know that if you go and see Jersey Boys you won't be sorry.
Regards and hugs,

I am very torn on my suggestion. Wicked is my all time favorite show. I would see that once a week if I could afford to. The only thing is that it will be here for a while still. Jersey Boys has a limited run here. I enjoyed Jersey Boys but did not love it.
This is such a personal decision but if I had to give you my two cents worth I would suggest that you either leave it up to your step-daughter or you see Wicked.
