Hi Everyone!  I started asking questions about the lapband, of my primary doctor about 6 mos ago and went to see the surgeon on 2-21-08, and on 3-5-08 was scheduling surgery for 4-2-08. I feel like I am in a whirlwind at the moment. I have so many questions and so little time. Has anyone out here used Dr Batty as their surgeon? Any complications? Anyone out there have Diabetes and have the lapband? How did anyone do afterwards? I am scared one minute so excited the next. I have always had issues with my weight. I am not sure how to live in a healthy body!!

Welcome Amy! I haven't had surgery yet, still waiting approval, but you will find a lot of info here and the people are awesome on this board. Sorry I can't answer your questions but someone here will, just give them a little time.

I didn't use Dr Batty, but I am 9 months out from my Lap Band.  Really no complications to speak of.  My port site gets a little tender around that time of the month , but not bad.  Just enough to remind me it's there.  It's all a change in lifestyle.  You'll find out what you can and can't eat by trial.  Everyone seems to be a little different.  Most of us seem to have problems with bread.  The biggest thing I've found is that I need to be able to concentrate on eating slower.  I would not personally think twice about having this surgery done, if I had to do it all over again. Hi Amy. I had my lapband on Dec 7 2007. I LOVE my band. I have always tried to eat more healthy..however i love my chocolate. Whats so wonderful about the band is that it teaches you smaller portions which is what i feel was my biggest fault. I still have my sweets...just not as much. I notice the scale doesnt move well when i have too much...(darn thing) I have lost 35 pounds so far so i am happy. I had type 2 Diabetes right before surgery but was diagnosed only 1 month prior. Just got my labs back and i no longer have it. Also my cholesterol went down 35 points. My labs are pretty close to normal now. Please feel free to PM me if you have any questions
