Today is my 1 year bandiversary!!!!!!!!! I started out back in Nov 2006 at 268 pounds. Had to lose 20 pounds for Insurance to approve me (bcbs/Iowa). The BMI had to be under 50! I did .....Dec 11  2006 I was fully approved. Only to find out the dr to do it was leaving.  I got on here and with Christine's help found a wonderfull dr. Dr. Rosen. I went to see him in Jan 2007 and Barbie had to get the approval changes over to Lifeweigh. I was given a possible date but that date was changed. I finally went with March 2 2007 so I could take a cruise to recouperate(sp). I gained 6 pounds but had a great time. I did lose that plus 1/2 pound more before my 1 month check up. Got my first fill then.   It took a few more fills to really kick in. In July 2007 was filled way to tight, I did not complain though I kept trying to work with it until Sept. Dr R too out a small amount and I was fine. I got my last fill Dec27th the 1 yr anniversary to getting my gallbladder removed by the first doc. That was to be my first official date for lapband, glad it did not happen then I think you should see the dr who does the surgery for your fills. Anyway I went to my weigh****chers meeting yesterday and today my weight it 194.... I am 26  pounds from  having losing 100 pounds!!!!!!!!! At Dr R's office I started out at 245 so since surgery my lose is 51 pounds!!!!!!!! I can run now before I had surgery on both knees, I can climb up on a chair to..I can get down into the floor and play with the grandkids. My 6yr old grandson was running through the yard one day and I ran after him playing and he stopped and said Hey I Thought You Could Not Run!!!!!! That was my first Hooray for lapband moment.. I can not say this loud enough I AM HAPPY!!!!!!!  size 12 to 14 in jeans, yes I am wearing jeans something I have not worn in years unless they had an elastic band, I have zippers in the one I buy today. My 3x large tops are not large to xlarge.  I know this is long but I just wanted to share a happy moment with all my friends who have helped me along, Thank you to all of you!! If anyone were to ask me if I would recommend the band? My answer is YES! It does work, its the best Tool I ever owned! Thank you BCBS for your quick approval and a special Thank you to Dr Rosen and staff for your guidness to get me to this point!!

Helly my friend and Happy Bandiversary!

You have done an amazing job and it shows if you use your tool, you can be a success.  I'm so happy for you.  As I was reading your post, it brought tears to my eyes.  I'm so glad to be taking this journey with you and I too am blessed to have the same surgeon. Cheers to you girlfriend.  Christina

Karen, I am awed at reading my name on this board with what you said about Dr R. Sorry I did not respond before this but things went from bad to worse with my brother and now they are on the upswing again. I have been lurking on the board but did not have the energy before this to respond. Chris

I feel blessed to have found OH. I also am blessed to have found some really great supportive friends that have gone through the same things. I have meet in person many from the Illinois board, and hope to meet the rest someday.  I think about you daily with all the sorrow you are going through. I do understand as we went through all this simular to what you are experienceing last fall when my dad (step) passed away after a 6 month battle of colon cancer. I am remembering you in my prayers. Keep believing! Karen
