Anyone Have Surgery Near or In Champaign, IL?
I rate my open RNY experiance at Carle as AAA+++ all the way. My surgeon (Dr Oliphant) was very upfront and professional. The 7th floor nurses (where my room was located) were "The Greatest"!!! I just can't say enough good things about them but then my whole experiance at Carle was like that. The whole Carle staff were kind, eager to help yet very professional!!! "In my opinion" I don't know why anyone would want to have WLS any other place than Carle!!! If you have any additional questions feel free to ask!!
I'm 3 weeks out today and still in the recovery stage. I seem to get better each day just like they (Carle) said I would. I have been following their diet guidelines religously and taking substancial walks everyday. The weight loss has been pretty steady so far. Like I said before, Dr. Oliphant and his "right hand" nurse (Ann Carroll) are very professional and take every avenue to see your educated about your WLS surgery so your journey will be successfull. Dr. Oliphant demands and expects full co-operation once you enter their WLS program. The 7th floor nurses I had after the surgery were the "greatest"!!! The rest of the staff I had to deal with (sleep study, blood work, physical, etc) at Carle were wonderfull also.
I have only met him once at a support group meeting where there were only about 10 members there. I was very impressed with him and when I left, I thought "he is the one" I know there is a support group in Champaign and here is the link to the support group - I believe you need to join but it only takes about 1 day to get activated: http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Champaign-Urbana_Area_W LS_Support/ hope this helps.
