Yes.. I truly do. I am hoping you guys have some suggestions. My surgery was 02/12 and my doctor started me off on a pureed diet. My tastes have changed since surgery. I can't do cottage cheese, and barely milk for my protein shakes. I have the protein bullet but it tastes like instant jell-o. I can do refriend beans and cheese well. The doctor said that if I can't get my protein in then they would have to give me a feeding tube. I need some serious suggestions and help. Thanks, Jazz

Are you doing proteion shakes? In the beginning, I relied on those to get my protein in...there was no way I could eat enough to get the necessary amount.

Hey Jazz,

When I first came home I was on protein until 20 days afer wls.  I would make shakes but I would add a half of bananas to my shake and it was water base so I didn't have to use milk.  I didn't like cottage cheese before but now I love it.  Just try to eat more foods with protein in.  I use to bake chicken and then I would puree it. I hope th is helps.

Hi Jazz... You can try to mix some of the bullet with flavored crystal lite that may help, I tried the bullets myself and had a hard time with them, it was much easier to get them down if I mixed them... Also try something like 8th continent or silk in place of milk for your protein shakes... Milk "runs" right through me since surgery... Can you try something like chili? you could make your own and freeze some... Add lots of beans, kidney, chili beans, black beans,  some ground turkey for protein you can also add some shredded cheddar cheese...

Peanut butter Cheesecake fluff

1 package cream cheese  = 16 protein

1 package Jello SF cheesecake instant pudding mix = 0 protein

½ C Peanut butter =28 protein

2 C silk reg = 12 protein

1 heaping scoop vanillia protein powder = 25 protein

Soften cream cheese and add all ingredients into blender, blend well Keep in fridge…

Makes 4 Cups serve in ½ Cups servings = 10 grams protein per serving

Jenn’s Chili Recipe:

1 pound lean ground beef

1 pound ground turkey

1 can dark red kidney beans drained and rinsed

1 can light red kidney beans drained and rinsed

1 can chili beans

1 can black beans drained and rinsed

2 cans diced tomatoes

1 green pepper diced

1 large onion diced

1 15 oz can tomato sauce

1 Carroll Shelby's Chili Kit (fix it mild or hot) <--- I get this at Walmart it comes in a little brown bag... 0 grams of sugar!

I brown the meat drain put into crock pot or stock pot with the rest of the ingredients...

Serve with Shredded cheddar cheese, FF sour cream, and I like a few oyster crackers with mine too...

You could try some scrambled egg with cheese... Just a few ideas to help out! Best wishes to you! Jenn

Jazz, are those the only foods on your list? What I would do is see if there is another protein drink you can try. There are premix ones you can get at Osco, Walgreens, The Vitamin Shoppe, GNC etc. The ones I like are EAS Advant Edge. You can get them in the 4 pak so you can try them. I know that GNC carries one that comes in a glass bottle and for the life of me I cannot remember the name. It tastes a little like Koolade, but in adult flavors. Can you have a pureed scrambled egg, tuna fish, other canned meats, egg salad? Those were on my list. How about smooth peanut butter?  Christine

Jazz, I feel bad for you, but there is a light at the end of the tunnel.  Tuna salad, salmon salad, chili, chicken salad, ham salad.  Hot cereal such as cream of wheat. Add i scoop of protein powder to it Proteined decafe coffee.  Unjury strawberry shorbet shake mix. I add a scoop to yogert and it is yummy.  Cream soup is good too.  You can cream almost anything in a Magic Buttet or a blender.  Keep working on it. It is hard to get the full amount of protein in as well as all the water, but you can fo it. Hugs

I can only tolerate those bullets when they are thinned with water. I used a little bit of baby food on the pureed diet (needs salt), eggs pureed with salsa, and all the protein shakes I had were with water. Have you tried the cottage cheese with salsa? I thought that was a great help .

Jazz., I use Isopure protein drinks from Gnc.   They are 40 grams of pure protein and no carbs.  They are 160 calories per bottle.   I have a real problem with protein also.  I dont tolerate eggs, protein drinks come right back up at me, and I cannot eat pork or chicken unless it is food lubed with something (dressing or sauce).   I had such a hard time with protein my hair fell out in clumps.  So I finally found the Isopure and it has helped a ton.  I dont like the protein aftertaste so I mix it with one packet of To go Crystal light.   And it has to be very cold.  They are fruit flavored and I love the grape or Green apple.  I also do alot of chili, tuna salad and chicken salad.   I LOVE the protein bars I get from GNC. I usually have 1-2 Isopures, a protein bar and then whatever protein I eat during the day.  That helps get me over the hump.  I can tolerate moist fish, and I have oatmeal and a banana every day for breakfast.  My band will not tolerate protein drinks.  It throws them back at me every time.   Keep plugging away at it. I am almost a year out and have just figured it out for myself.  However it may change after my fill on Monday.    Gina
