i went to the doctor today and the good news is I am down 90 lbs in 7 months.  When the doctor asked me what I wanted to get down to I told him 150.  He told me that was unrealistic.  He said that I will propbably lose anoth 30 and thats it.  I started at 336.  Why am I being unrealistic.  Can I hear from some women who are in their mid fifties and needed to lose about 186 lbs. I was a light weight when I started out so I cannot compare to what you are going through. What is your height and what you want to loose is it with in a realistic loss to get to 150?  Chris

I am 5'5 I am at 246 now in my 7th month and I hope to lose 90 more lbs within the next year.  Does that sound crazy?  I walk and swim every day and I really watch what I eat.

I am with Christina on this. Work real hard like you are doing now. Try to shake up your exercise routine as much as you can so your body does not get into a rut. Stay on the straight and narrow with your diet as you are doing. I feel that you can do it. Dave, my DH was able to loose close to 175# in the 18 month window of the honeymoon time and then he lost more after his first PS due to excess skin and then really, really watching his diet combined with exercise. I am 7 months post opt and I have lost 150 pounds.  I also started @ 324 pounds.  I want to get to 150 as well.  My doctor said that it is normal.  Hell I might even want to be smaller.  I dont know what a normal weight is for me, ya know.  I still have another 20 pounds to go.  I know im not in my mid fifties but I thought I would write anyways.  Who cares what your doc says lol

I say prove him wrong!  You have to do the work but it can be done.  There are ladies out there that are still losing at 4 & 5 years out.. It's a much slower process but it can be done.  From my personal experience I did notice a much slower wl after the 12mo marker but it's still coming off.

Don't let him discourage you.. you can do it  Christina

Ginny,
I started at 345 on the day of surgery. It has been 10 1/2 months for me and I am down 139 pounds, and still losing.I also want to get to 150 and my surgeon thinks I will be able to get there by the time I am 18 months out. And, I am in my 50s. Don't give up and just do the best you can

Shar
