No Diet Coke Wendi........I took a tongue thrashing from my Dr. and his nutrionist for that.........No drinks with bubbles!   I had a hell of a time post-op, craving that Diet Coke.....but I didn't give in and it finally passed. Pam

Wendi, I think that the Kane group allows soda after 3 months. I do believe that I remember that from Dave's notes. Believe me - stay away forever if you can. Dave does not even miss it at all. He was a diet/free Pepsi freak, 6 minimum cans a day. You might want to up you water intake. I find that if I miss getting all my water in I start feeling real tired. As soon as I drink a minimum of 16 oz I feel much better. Try shaking up the taste buds with Crystal Light or Propel. That might help with a little sweetness. Keep a bunch of the drink tubes around. I really like the peach tea. Do you have a bad taste in your mouth all the time or just with certain foods? You are in ketosis if you are having a bad taste, sort of metalic - all the time. I am not really fond of scrambled eggs as I only like them with all the junk in them so I do not eat them much.  Chris

Wendi, I think this would be the same for RNY, but w/ the band they say you should not have carbinated drinks, because it could streatch the pouch.  The dietitian said if you HAVE to have some diet coke, make sure it is flat before you drink it and make sure it is decaf.  That kind of defeats the craving for something fizzy.  I am a HUGE diet coke drinker and I have started to cut back w/ hopes of being off of it by surgery time.

I can go months without a diet coke/pepsi/dr. pepper I mostly drin**** tea.  But every once in a blue moon, I just want something fizzy and then I do not drink it real fast.  hmmmm oh well, I will survive.

Erin, what got Dave and I through our weight loss time was going to resale shops for our transition clothing. You cannot beat the prices for the jeans, tops and sweaters. And yes some of the shops have the plus size clothing, more than you think. Especially the charity shops they usually have a larger selection. Chris

Welcome home! So glad you checked back in. It must have been mental telepathy because I have been thinking about you and where you have been. As far as suggestions - shop around for an insulated lunch box either hard or soft sided. Invest in a few of the reusable freezer thingys to keep things cold.  I use a lot of the small Glad Ware containers. The smallest ones are 1/2 cup.  I always have small snack plastic bags in the house for putting cheese in or a few crackers. Shop weekly for things to take for lunch. My mind is always thinking ahead as to keep my lunch and snacks interesting. With Dave and I we always have left overs to have for lunch left overs. I also will every once in a while just plain go shopping by myself so I can get ideas for future lunches. I comb the grocery store sale adds for future ideas for meals and snacks.  Cottage cheese, string cheese, small cans of tuna (3 oz size), I always have the small cans of fruit or veggies in the house. They are more expensive to have but less waste for us. I will many times have low sugar canned fruit with a small amount of cottage cheese for a snack. A small amount of peanut butter with some sliced apple or celery for a snack. Oh, I am sure there are more ideas but I am starting to look forward to my bed. You know your tastes and what goes on in your own house as to left overs and such.  You will do fine, just plan ahead. Chris
