revision, lapband placed over rny

HI, I do not live in illinois right now, even though I was raised in a small town out of peoria all my life, but am considering having a lapband placed over my RNY I had back in o4, I was just wondering if anyone has been to see dr Alverdy in chicago?  and what you thought, just  trying to get feedback, I have spoke to their office a couple of times, and they have been very kind and helpful, I even emailed dr Alvery, and he answered me himself, which is very rare!  I am just a little nervous and wanted to know a little about him.    Thanks so much for everyones help!

I do not know much about the procedure but do know that there are a few members of the IL board that are his patients. Have you looked the doc up on this site to see the comments from his patients. I just looked in the list of bariatric docs and he is in the OH unregistered list. That does not mean he is not a good doctor it is just that he is not a member of this site. Christine

Christine, thank you so much for sending this to me, it completely made me feel at ease once I was able to read testimonials about him, and I never would have found it without you!!   I now have no doubt  that he is the one to do my surgery.   you have been an Angel!!!!   hope everything is going good for you!

Well, that is what I like to do is find help for a person. Stay in touch with everyone on the board and if you feel comfortable stop into our daily roll call. I know that you said that you are not living in IL now but that is ok. We welcome ALL OH members to our humble board. Christine

I would be cautious about the band with the RNY.  I know it is in clinical trials at the moemnt and a lot of RNY patients are looking in to it.  I believe there is also a study going on at UIC.  Dr. Galvani I believe is running that one, but I could be very wrong about the UIC study.   As a bander myself, I can say it is wonderful.  I am so glad I had it. Good luck with everything.  I know it is difficult (as you already know) and you keep moving forward :)

Barry, I really appreciate what you have told me, I have been in touch with the Dr Averdy , the doc  that is going to do it, and says he has done several, and I am having to go through my insurance, also once I started searching, there are a few others that are doing it ,but as far as I know, none of them are doing it in a study, but thanks, because I will definatly make sure that its not the case, my surgeon actually knows the doc I am going to be going to and says he is a good one,   well , hope you are having a great monday!!     I am so glad the band is working well for you, my best friend and her brother both had it done in dec, and are doing fantastic!  so, I really feel this is the answer fo me!!    have a great Monday!!!!!!                   Nancy
