You need to maybe shake up your exercise routine a little and exert yourself more. Your body has become used to what you are doing and it needs to be challanged. Ramp up the cardio and maybe add some weight strengthening. I would not say that being 54 has anything to do with being able to exercise or not. My DH went 20 miles on his outside bike on his 60th birthday. He was told that before his WLS he would have been dead at 60 if he did not loose weight. I am not really sure where you are going with your age. I am 56 and love to exercise, I do not let my age get in the way. Now, do not compare yourself with your friend, never do that because everyone's body is different. Are you a light weight and does your friend need to loose more than you? I was a light weight and started to slow down at about the same time as you did. I only needed to loose just a little over 100# and by the time 1 year rolled around I had just about stopped. I am not saying that you will not loose anymore it is just that your body might be taking a breather and it is regrouping for a while. Have you been measuring yourself and are you loosing inches, are your slacks, jeans and shirts getting bigger? Those are indications that you are still loosing. Keep in mind that a true plateau lasts for 30+ days without loosing weight or inches.  Christine ps is that all you ate for the day? How many calories is that? Keep in mind if you are exerting yourself a little more with exercise you need a little more protein to feed your muscles and internal organs. Your body will stop loosing weight if it is not getting enough nutrition to sustain it.

Hi Christine,   I do strength training as well. I do swimming aerobics and walking with stairs.  And to answer the food question yes that is what I ate.  Today I am starting the 5 day pouch test to see if that will help.  Maybe I will rev up my protein after the test.  I eat somewhere between 7-9hundred cal a day.

Hey, my dear just my opinion but I do not think you are getting enough calories in. I was supposed to be shooting for at least 1200 by 7 months out. BUT-if that is the calorie amount your doc want you at then ok. Chris

I dont see my do****il the 21st  of Feb.  The nutritionist told me to shoot for 70 -84 gr protein.  That was 3 months ago.  I have been doing my water 64 oz and my protein 70 religously.  I had to stop going to the nutritionist.  Ins stop paying.  I am going to increase my protein to 84 and see how that works.  I am on day 2 of the 5 day pouch test.   Thank you Ginny

I hear ya!  I've been on a plateau for over 4 months.  I HAVE lost inches, but nothing else.  I am NOT giving up though! It looks to me like you are under-eating.  You should probably be getting at least 70-80 g of protein each day (check with your surgeon to see if he orders something different).  Walking and swimming is a lot of exercise, and that is AWESOME! I have been told to try to eat 150-200 colories 6 times a day (every 2-3 hours) so that your body is always fueled and never feels like it is starving.  Give it a try-----it can't hurt! Don't forget your water too!  You need AT LEAST 64 oz. but more is always better! Also.......the protein drink seems a bit high in calories for the amount of protein that you are getting.  I use IDS Multi-Whey and it is about 130 calories mixed with water and I get 26 g of protein per 6 oz serving.  It is low carb too.  I have two of these a day then the other 4 "meals" are real food. This is just what has helped me, not medical advise...... Good luck and let us know how you are doing....the support helps!

I need to find some of that IDS stuff.  I went to GNC yesterday and got some whey protein but they are high.  I will check that out.   Thanks Ginny

I get it here in Rockford at a bodybuilder store cale the MYO store. I have also ordered it from www.vitalady.com.  With the shipping, it is a bit more expensive, but it is SOOOO good, it is worth it.  It is more economical in the 5 pound tubs.  I would check out vitalady.com, she had samples of everything she sells.  That is how I found the ones that I like----I just ordered a BUNCH of samples and kept track of how they tasted with a spreadsheet. Good luck!
