Ok, that is weird as I was having a hard time losing with my knee messed up and then a surgery on it. They told me to try the pre-op diet, and thats what I was told, but not that I could replace the lunch with protein, and she also told me the sf popsicles, sf jello only if you need them lol.

You got a great doctor there! I went to Dr Joyce and wouldnt change it for the world.  They are a great group of people over there...Make sure you get those Vitamins they made, you can swallow them, its great.  After surgery you wont want to chew those nasty vitamins lol Follow that diet, you will for surely lose weight...You can have as many of the sf things but just stick with the rest of the stuff

I was told and each Dr gives different diets to follow, some don't give any at all but clear liquids the day before. My surgeon says 2 protein shakes (considered liquids) no coffee, no soda, no tea, crystal light or other sf juice is ok, as is water, or broth, sf popsicles or sf jello is also ok. I also get to eat 4 oz of lean meat and 1/2 c of veggies for dinner.

Renee,  I had Dr. Lahmann as well.  You can have tea however it has to be decaf.  and unsweetened or sweetened with Sweet n low, Splenda, etc.  You can have you protein meal for lunch if you want that is what I did.  I will admit it was harder to do that diet than after the surgery.  The second week is easier.  If you have any questions let me know.  Good Luck! Renee is right.. each surgeon and dietician has a different program.  You really need to follow up w/ yours to get their guidelines.  This is a very important part of your journey so you want to make sure you are abiding by their rules. Good Luck and Congrats on your upcoming surgery. Christina

I asked specifically if I could have my lean protein at lunch rather than dinner and she said that was fine.  As long as I was doing to protein drinks for breakfast and dinner.  I guess she said some people like to do breakfast for their lean protein because they work nights and what not.  Unless they have changed that rule within the last 10 weeks.  I'm only 8 weeks post-op.
