What was I thinking??????

Ok, someone just shoot me and put me out of my misery.  Instead of the great relaxing evening I had planned snuggled up w/ my girls reading a book...........  I got a wild hair and decided to start taking the wallpaper off the walls going down the stairwell.  Oh my gosh.  I really did not think this was going to be a huge deal but geez oh wiz this wallpaper must of been up forever and it's stuck on good. Anyone have any suggestions or recommendations on a good product to use to remove this ugly wallpaper?  There is no turning back now.  I've made a huge mess and now I have to continue to fix it.  Yikes.  Just needed a little break.  I'll be back later so please give me some good advice.   Christina

Hi cutie......I have always found that fabric softener diluted with water does great!  Let me know if this helps......or maybe this post is no good and you already have it ripped off!  BTW, scoring does help! PS

Hey Babe..  I was using full strength downey but maybe I'll try it diluted.  Only good thing is my house smells real good!  LOL   I gave up for the night.  Will tackle it again in the morning. Thanks.. Christina

I agree with Pam, you need to score it. There is a little tool that you can get at the home improvement stores that you use in a circular motion on the wall. It has little small blades in it that knicks the wall paper and then the solution that you use to wet the wall penitrates better. My upstairs hallway took forever because It seemed like I had to soak it forever to get the paper off and then to get the glue off after. Oh by the way - WHAT WERE YOU THINKING??? Chris

After you run the the tool around the walls, and get them really wet, I generally use boiling water,  you could also use a wallpaper scaper on it. That will also take some or most of the glue off.  Hugs

Maybe renting one of those steamers...I have seen it used on HGTV.
