Getting Nervous

So tomorrow I have an appointment with the psych doc to have my psych eval (had one with this doc a few years ago so I know it won't be an issue), then the big evaluation with Dr. Ayloo on Feb 7th in Chicago.  I am so nervous.  I have tried to have the surgery before, this is now my 3rd attempt and I'm hoping that the 3rd time really is the charm :( I now believe I am getting diabetes.  I had it during my pregnancy the first time back in '02 then again this pregnancy in '07 that required insulin.  Right after I had my son tho blood sugars normalized and just like that danger is gone.  Well my son is not 6 months old and I haven't been feeling right, so I took my testing kit out of storage and tested my blood.  Yesterday morning it was 199!!  Then this morning it was 160.  I just checked it an hour after my lunch and it was 157.  I can't get into a doc about it until Jan 30th, but I'm just trying to keep my head up high and tell myself that I'm going to get this surgery come hell or high water because at this point its the only thing that could save me life:( I look at all of you that have had this done with such envy.  Hopefully I will join you all on the losers bench soon :( Wish me luck and keep my in your prayers.  Any encouraging words/stories would be much appreciated to calm the nerves :)

Jacqueline,

I'm not sure of the reasons you weren't able to have it before.  It sounds like pregnancy may have been one of them.

It does sound like your diabetes is coming back.  I would try to call my pcp to see if they will write up orders for a glucose tolerance test.  That way when you see them on the 30th they will already have the results.  This depends on the dr and staff, but it's worth a shot.

I'm sure you have done enough research on the subject to know that there isn't anything to be nervous about with the dr.  As long as you meet the qualifications of bmi and are knowledgable about the procedure you will do fine.

I saw my surgeon in July and had the surgery in Dec.  Just think that 2008 is your year.

You are in my prayers, Michelle
