Did You Move To Lose Today? It's a Miracle!
OMGosh, I can't believe it......last week I was whining that it was below zero here and now it's going to be in the 60's.
Now while I am so happy, it's really scary....I do think the world is coming to an end with in Chicago, in Jan. it's in the 60's
That being said, I am going to take my Rocky and get out and walk and then see if I can find my bike and ride before the rain hits later today.
Hit the gym this weekend and did some arms and cardiio. Then I spent the rest of the weekend cleaning like it was spring. Trying to get ready to do some painting...
So my friends, Did You Move To Lose and or Maintain Today? Come on in and let'**** the ground running this week
Take care,
Kathy

How long have you been on the stall and what if anything have you tried?
Are you keeping track of measurements and body fat instead of just the scale?
You are so lucky your DH likes to go to the gym. Mine just sits around like a bump on a log. I was working out with my son but he is so advanced I was slowing him down BIG TIME....he fired me
You hang in there, I am sure things will get moving again soon.
take care,
Kathy

Hi Kathy,
I am at about a little over 3 week stall and It is killing me, I haven't tried anything yet any suggestions, I did try subbing a meal for a protein shake today and upping water...I have not done measurements just the scale ugh I hate the scale...My Hubby since I had surgery has now decided he likes the gym and I am going as well now....If you have any advice I would be open to it thanks so much.....Martha
Hi Martha,
First of all please take your measurements. You may not be in a stall, you may be losing fat and inches and the scale is not showing this. As someone at the gym to do a body fat comp. Again, you may be losing fat and the scale isn't showing it.
That being said, here is what I do when I hit a stall. I increase my protein, make sure I am drinking all my water, make sure I am not drinking before and after eating. What ever I was doing for exercise I change it up to trick the body. If I was biking, I swim, if I was doing the treadmill only then I take on a kick boxing class.
I also, push myself with my lifting weights. I do less weight more reps and no resting in between sets.
Also, try some fun things. Try taking a dancing class.....roller blading, yoga if you have not tried it.
My worst time not losing lasted for 9 weeks. I know you are freaking out right now reading that but I kept my eating clean and kept working out (I knew in my mind I was doing all the right things) I almost lost my mind but hung tough....once the scale started moving again it didn't stop until I hit 114.
Hang in there ok?
Take care,
Kathy

Hi Kathy!
Yes, I did! I did 40-45 minutes of stregth training with the tubes and on the floor. Then stretching before and after. I rested completely on Saturday and did cardio yesterday for 35 minutes on the bike, for 9 miles.
I have a question for you........Do you agree that it is better to do the strength training one day and the cardio on the other days, or should I do both every other day with a resting day in between?
You see, I have been looking at SparkPeople.com and they had an article on Friday about busting plateaus. It said, "the principles of nutrition, rest, and variation will jumpstart your body, mind, and metabolism. " Meaning correct nutrition, rest in between (and at least 8 hours per night of sleep), and varying your workout to keep your body guessing.
I have added an extra 200 calories, and making sure to eat every 2-3 hours and exercised as above (instead of doing both cardio and strength every day) and I actually lost 4 pounds as of Sunday morning (but back up 2 this morning).
So....after this LONGGGGGGG question........which is better? Or does it matter?
Thank you for all your help, support and motivation!
That is a very good question. I do believe and have found myself that if you keep the body guessing the stalls are not as often and don't last very long. But they do happen. Your body fights you big time about losing. It thinks you are on Survivor and tries to save your life. But we don't want any stinkin saving....
Now, I always do a 5 min warm up on the treadmill and no more, then I work out with my weights and if I do cardio I do so after weight lifting. You will not get the great workout and results you want by lifting if you do cardio first.
I have been told you should do cardio only or weight lifting only, but not both. When you do cardio you are working your muscles to tone one way and when you lift weights you are working your muscles to shape up in another. You can burn just as much cals just weight lifting with no cardio but you have to be hard core.
Geez, not answering your question very well I am. Everyone is different. Try it one way and if you are not getting the results you are looking for try another. Don't worry to much about the scale. You may be holding water weight and that 2 pounds is not fat. Do a body fat comp and take your measurements....use this to determine if your workout is working. The Scales SUCK!!!!!!
You could weigh 130 and have a body fat of 35% and then you could weigh 140 and have a body fat of 25%. Which one would you want and which one will make you feel and look better? The last one of course.....
Give me your email address in a PM and I will send you a copy of my workout routine. You can play with it and see if it helps. Again, we are all different.
You hang in there, you are doing AWESOME!!!!
