Surgery upcoming and I am nervous
It is normal to be nervous about any kind of surgery. Most news magazines that we all watch from time to time show us the horror stories and those come out to scare us. Remember that your surgeon is really good and has done a lot of the surgeries that you are going to have. You will come out on the other end and become a loser. SAY IT LOUD AND PROUD, I AM A LOSER!! Be excited that your weight loss journey is getting ready to move to the next stage.
A lot of us here have been through several different kind of surgeries for weight loss (one surgery of multiple available, not that we have had a lot of surgeries each). We all came through fine and are losers. I wouldn't take back my decision for my surgery, maybe just try and do it sooner than I did.
Hurray for you on your date!
I just got a date, too, next month, so I know what you mean about finding reasons to do it and not do it. For example, today, I had very little appetite, so I thought "maybe I can lose this 200 pounds one pound at a time and not have the surgery." Then I laughed at my foolishness, because I had said that a million times before.
You're doing the right thing...just think about how you'll feel and look next January.

I had the kick-butt duodenal switch (DS)!
HW: 344 lbs CW: 150 lbs
Type 2 diabetes and sleep apnea GONE!
I had Dr. Lahmann as well for RNY on Dec 10th. I wasn't so much worried about the surgery. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to eat. That everything that I ate would make me sick. I was kinda of in a stupor the day of surgery. It was kinda sureal. However the surgical floor rocks!!! All the nurses are really cool and a bunch of them either had RNY or Lap Band. I would suggest that you just breath slowly and talk it out with your loved ones. It helped me to vent to my boyfriend about my fears. I even had a complication while in the hospital and had to stay a 2 extra days but Dr. Lahmann checks up on you so no worries there. Good Luck on the 15th. I go back to work in the 14th UGH!!! Maybe I will see you at the support group meetings.
Remember to breath!!!

It is very natural to be nervous, but as everyone else has said.......it is worth it.
In 6 months, you will not believe how much better you will feel. I always say that I didn't even know how bad I felt until I felt so much better! It is an amazing journey that you are embarking on and we are all here to cheer you on the whole way!
