I need some advice...my work christmas party is next Saturday.  It is at JMK Nippon in Rockford. JMK is similar to the japanese restraunt Benny Hanna in Schaumburg.  I tolarate most foods I have eaten okay.  Anyone have any opinion on what I should go towards and stay away from? Thanks for all your help :) Gina

Gina, that is totally up to you.  I find what foods I can tolerate is different from the next.  You might want to give the place a try before so you can test the foods and see what agrees with you and what doesn't.  Again it will all depend on what YOU can tolerate.

Gina, I've eaten at Nippon's a number of times. All the food is cooked in front of you on a hot grill. 6 oz of teryaki salmon is about 270 calories and 45 grm of protein. 3 oz of shrimp is 8 calories and 17 grams of protein. 3 oz of chicken is 94 cal and 17 gr protein. you could probably order an extra serving of vegetables instead of the rice which comes with the meal. I love the shrimp when it is cooked by someone who knows how to cook it well and I would eat it there before I'd try to cook it myself! Actually sometimes the serving sizes at Nippon's are on the small side compared to Shogun. It would be a fairly easy place to get a moderate meal and you can always take home the leftovers. Have fun! Thank you for your replies.  I have eaten there a few times myself just pre-surgery.  But my head was just going in circles on what was "healthier" and that I could be "normal" with my friends and co-workers.  Thank you for giving me some ideas :)  -Gina :) P.S. Its nice to see some folks from the Rockford area...Do you ladies attend support groups out this way?

Should be some good choices here.  Only thing I would stay away from is the white rice...no real nutrition there.  Any of the fish seafood or chicken is fine if you are able to tolerate it. It's pretty much up to you.  Taste a bit of everything and have a great time!
Regards and hugs,

Ronna
