At wits end here
I'm at my wits end I just don't know where to turn anymore.. I had my lap band in for two years now and feel like a complete failure..I started off great and the pounds just seemed to fall off I was at a good 340+ pounds when I started my journey and I'm currently at 270 and have been there for the past year now. At one point I realized my band was too tight and I wasn't getting a whole lot of food into my system and Dr Wagner opened it up some. I able to get food in now and I have still not started losing again. I have been able to maintain though which is good (at least I didn't put any back on) . BUt I just don't understand why I haven't been able to lose anything else now for about 8 mths..
Please has anyone else out there been through anything like this and if so how do I jump start my system again?
I also can't ever seem to make it to the support group meetings on the St Louis side of the river and have heard of rumors of a support group on the illinois side does anyone know where it is I can really use some support and friends that understand what I'm going through.
Thank You

Dawn, I can't help you with support groups, since I live in North Central Illinois, but I understand how you feel. Look at the bright side, you have lost 70 lbs. You are maintaining, and I bet you have lost inches too.
Maybe you need to get back to the beginnings and start with liquids again, then mushies, ect.
The Illinois board is here for you and to offer you support. Please come back and visit with us.

Hi Dawn -
I feel your pain. It's a daily struggle that we will face for the rest of our lives. As they say, wls is just a tool not a permanent fix. We still have to do our part. Eat healthy, exercise, attend on line or live support group meetings, meet regularly with our surgeons. I had foot surgery on Nov 30th and boy did I have a huge eye opener. I am not able to exercise and I started having a poor me pitiful me party and instead of doing chair arobics or whatever I could do.. I chose to sleep thru the month of December and I've gained. It's my fault. I made poor food choices and did not do much to "move".
Have you discussed your problem with your surgeon? Do you exercise? Do you measure your food? Maybe log your food intake into fit day. Sometimes we don't think we are eating many calories but in reality, we are eating way more then we need to. The only way to know for sure is to go back to the basics and log your food intake just to make sure you are on track.
Hang in there, we are here for you. We just have to take things one day at a time and some days.. one minute at a time.
You have lost 70lbs which is wonderful. You can do this!
