I have a couple of questions I need some help with. First of all I go next week for all my testing like blood work, chest xrays, and upper GI. I was wonderin if they sedate you for the upper GI test. I was also wondering if anyone had any suggestions on any certain questions i should ask my dr when I go see him. I have some wrote down to ask about the drains and the amt of time I need to take off from work/school. I thought if any one could think of something that they asked there dr or any that they wished they would have would be great. Thanks to all for the support that I get one here. It is amazing. Sometimes in the real world I feel alone but when I'm on here I feel like I am a part of something wonderful and exciting!!! Take care Measha

Hj Measha.  You dont  have to worry about the upper GI. They give you some junk to drink and you lay against a tablr and they take pictures. I really don't think it took more then 20 min or so. The X ray of yout chest was done, at the same time, and the blood test a normal blood test. You will be going home before you know it.  Since I had lapband, I don't know what to tell you to ask, but I am sure someone will come back and answer you.

Hi Measha, I wasn't sedated for my upper GI... I just had to drink this stuff (It wasn't too bad) and they take some pictures on a x-ray table that sort of inclines... It doesn't take that long, and it doesn't hurt... As far as the questions go one thing I wanted to know was when I could have some ice chips after surgery I hate how dried out I feel after surgery... I was able to have a little bit every hour, It was enough to help my dry mouth plus the nurses gave me ice cold water and swabs for me to swab inside my mouth! That felt so good! Most my questions came after surgery... I'm so excited for you! Congrats!!! Jenn

Thanks Ill definitl ask bout the ice chips. I didnt even think about that. It just seems as the days pass I get more jittery. Not that I dont want the surgery. I feel like Im in freak out mode. Questioning myself like... do I know enough (even though I ve researched it for well over a year), am I ready for afterward, just things like that. But thanks again. Measha
