This will sound silly.......

For as many posts that I read, I know that everyone is different and that yes the surgeon did his job.  BUT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! 1.  I guess I should knock on wood, as I have not had any complications.  I am almost back to my normal self with the exception of the JP drain and steri strips. 2. It bothers me that I have yet to feel full. I know the nerves..... Because of my intolerance for another day of liquid diet, I pulled out my magic bullet and pureed some cheesy hamburger bake that DH made for dinner.  I used my digital food scale to measure out 4 ozs and added a little left over chicken broth in the fridge and lets just say it looked like pate.  I put approx half in a tiny bowl, and used a tiny spoon (I think that it is for preserves) that I had found at World Market.  I chewed really well and slow with no issues.  I was afraid to push the envelope.  I am not sure what feeling satisfied is?  So, my friends how do you know when you are full/satisfied in these early stage without paying the price?

I just now am starting to feel the full feeling, I think that is why the drs. tell us to measure everything we eat, that way we don't over fill our pouch, Gald to hear you are doing so good, and with out any problems,

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!

Hi Wendi! I was/am the same as you.  So far, no complications and I even joke with the surgeons that they did not do anything to me.   My surgeons have us leave the hospital on pureed, so I do not think that you did any permanent damage.  (I then had to stay on pureed for 6 weeks.)   In the beginning, I would not FEEL anything in my pouch, but I would just reach a point where I did not/could not take another bite.  It is very hard to explain, but I just did not want any more. Now, 14 months later, I have had a few instances of being FULL----it is just uncomfortable.  Feels like I have a rock in my abdomen and actually feels a bit like when you have a baby in there-----just uncomfortable to move, and like something is stuck/poking into your ribs.  I try to avoid that feeling whenever possible, but lately, I notice that it does not last as long as it used to and I could actually eat more after a few minutes if I chose to. I still never feel real hunger, but I also never feel really full either.  I have just started to pay more attention to measuring my food to see if I am on track.  (So far, it seems that I am.) :-) No question is silly and in answer, I would say that the measuring cup will be your best way to stay on track in the early stages until feeling returns. Hope this helps.......

Thanks Dawn.... Prior to surgery I was never satisfied.  I could eat a full dinner with seconds and with in an hour later have a larger dessert, then have another snack before bed.  So this feeling satisfied thing is an all new concept..
