Anyone w/ IDPA insurance have WLS?

Does it cover it?  How do you get approved?  Do you have to have an Illinois surgeon?  Any surgeons in the Southern Illinois? I have a friend that wants to have the surgery now that she's seen someone successfully do it.  I don't know anything about the IDPA to give her info, but if anyone deserves it, she does.  Any info would be greatly appreciated. I had RNY on the 21st of Nov. and I used my Medicaid. They cover the gastric bypass for me, and I am in Chicago. My surgery was done at UIC on Taylor street. Hope this helps. To get approved, the doctor or surgeon needs to send in the correct paperwork.

I have not heard of any doctors in Southern Illinois covering it.  Only Chicago doctors as the last poster posted.  Good Luck!

UIC does RNY for medicaid patients and Mercy Hospital in Chicago on Michigan Avenue takes medicaid for lapband.  Hope this helps!
