Tuesday Roll Call
Monica, we try to stay at ma 'n pa places instead of the big waterpark hotels. We do stay at Chula Vista in June and that is a waterpark hotel. We stay there then because we are with a group. A couple times a year we will stay at The Hilton Garden because of it being close to a couple of finer restaurants that we go to for appetizers or a meal. The Hilton has a really nice 2 room suite that we treat ourselves to.
We will stay at Riverwalk Hotel which is the only hotel that overlooks the upper dells of the WI river. They have balcony rooms that we love to watch the river traffic during that time of the year, too cold during the winter. Other places we stay at is Colonial in downtown Dells, very basic motel hardly any channels on the tv but clean, Fitzgeralds, the same as Colonial and New Concord Hotel in Lake Delton, they have WIFI, another very basic hotel with a small indoor waterpark, clean but very basic. I have to bring my own coffee pot to most except Chula and the Hilton. All have fridges and micros, but go figure no coffee. We also sometimes stay at Park Place Motel in the Dells. The waterpark hotels for the most part are too far away from the "homegrown" restaurants we like to go to, not chain or fastfood restaurants. All the ones we stay at are within walking distance of our room. The problem with the waterpark hotels is that they like to keep you there to have you eat and not have you go off of the complex and it is EXPENSIVE.
Any other questions that you may have about the Dells feel free to ask. I have been going up there since I was about 8 and my folks retired 25 miles north of there. They are gone but the family still owns the property.
