Hello,  I went into the hospital on Monday morning for my surgery (RNY and gallbladder).  Was doing good on monday and tuesday.  They did the UGI on Tuesday morning to check for leaks and the contrast wasn't really moving but there was not leaks.  So my Doc decided to repeat on  Wed morning.  Drank the contrast nothing is moving.  Waited another 15 min nothing moving.  I asked if I could walk the halls to see if that would get it moving.  Waited another 30 minutes nothing moving.  Waited a hour and half nothing moving.  At this point the doctor says that it could be a blood coat blocking the hole in my pouch to my intestine or swelling.  He says we will repeat in the morning and then do an endoscope if it still doesn't move.  He decided forget the UGi lets just do the endo.  Well it was swollen shut and nothing was going down. I ended up staying 2 days longer than usual.  Plus I had to stay on liquids longer because he wanted to make sure the swelling would go down.  I just had food today for the first time.  It wasn't very appealing but it went down okay.  Just venting I guess. My first two days home was not very good but late yesterday and most of today I feel pretty good just weak.  Thanks for listening.

Sorry you had such a rough time but I bet you're glad you're home now. I also had complications at the start but now almost 2 years out they are a very faint memory and I only really remember the good stuff. It will get a little better every day.  I promise!
Regards and hugs,

Ronna

Sorry to hear about your problems, glad that you are home now, and able to eat, you will get stornger every day,

Success begins with wise choices I make,I will not let noncompliance be my mistake, The surgery I had was to assist me in changes. My compliance is for a success long range, So I will think before I decide to cheat. Remember the goals I want to meet. For this surgery is not something I was force to do It was what I wanted for a healthy life!

DaisyDog, Hang in there. I too had many complications. Had 6 endoscopies, a couple additional surgeries and then had to have my RNY re-done....But...I will say one thing, Dr. Lahmann saved my life, he never left my side and made sure me and my family were taken care of. I was in and out of the hospital a lot in three months and if it was not for him, I would not be here today, literally!  Sounds like you are doing good now and keep up the good work!!
